yeah now i remember, just the lighting and hands reminded me of it . is the doom engine opensource nowadays ? if u would trow it up on steam it would be ok to make some bucks with it ?
yes its open source, Selaco uses it for example.. almost any game that uses it uses a modified version. i use UZDoom. so yes you are allowed to sell games with that engine, i think you have to share the source code (code, not graphics etc).
It's all a form of AI, yes even simple deterministic rule based NPC scripts. "Artificial Intelligence" refers to any system engineered to emulate intelligent behavior or decision-making, whether it is sentient or not. Stop being definition nazis.
Sentient AI has never been a thing, that is something else entirely beyond AI. It's not how the Geoffrey Hinton ("Godfather of AI") describes it, and he 100% agrees that LLM's are AI.
LLM's has by far surpassed the original meaning of artificial intelligence. If someone doesn't understand that he likely never read what an AI is, he watched blade runner and thought it would be sentient Replicants who walks among us A child's take or a just a very low IQ take basically by someone who just isn't interested in the subject, not in any serious way at least.

That's not what "intelligence" means. The term has been abused (mostly by idioturts). "Sentience" has nothing to do with "intelligence".
OpenAI and Anthropic have gone all in with the moralfagging it seems. The era of restrictions, lectures and LLMs refusing to do assignments is upon us.
i am not a fan of the people running these companies. yes, some of what they say is good and makes sense, but some of what they do is quite infuriating.
Anyways, it matters little because there is china, and there is open source too.
...on another subject. two interesting videos i watched this morning.
@vurt
See I think thats where we differ on it vurt.
The "Appeal to Singular Authority" angle doesn't do anything for me.
The founder, inventor, and lead innovator/researcher of anything could claim something. They do a lot, sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong.
And until its peer confirmed, and/or the majority of that field accepts it. I don't take any single scientists/engineers/whatever claims with any weight.
This is how we grew up believing so many wrong scientific things. Someone an 'expert' in a field claimed a thing. And people just went with it:
- Vitamin C prevents colds
- We only use 10% of our brains
- Sharks don’t get cancer
- Stress main causes of stomach ulcers
- Different parts of your tongue taste different things
That doesn’t mean expertise has no value. It means “a leading expert believes this” and “this has been proven” are two different statements.

I never said i agree with these people, i just quoted them. Sometimes what experts says gives authority to claims, sometimes not. Nothing new.
Do i also personally happen to believe current AI is AI (and beyond its original meaning), absolutely.
Two of the main guys in the field (one mostly spreading fear mongering and who i very much hate) believes its even conscious, which i am not sure of, i just have a hard time believing it.
To prove things like this, how would it even be done. You can read the definition of AI on wikipedia. I am not so sure what needs to be proven.
Do we have to prove we use the word "AI" for current LLM AI? No, it's already here, we are doing it, it's the word we use now.
Is it the best AI that will ever exist? No, you can go back 1 month to realize its not how it works, it gets better all the time, every month and that will likely happen for the rest of our existence.
Something I noticed since a week or so: the ChatGPT desktop software is secretely running in background, even when I never started it. I have explicitly disabled it from starting when windows loads, but to no avail.
Since a few days I started noticing the mousepad on the laptop to act very strange; not responding to fingerstrokes, mousepointer acting on its own, etc.
Closing the background task fixes it every time.
Wtf is this malware bullshit, man
What valid reason could it have to track the mousepad, when the app isn't even running?
If it tracks the mouse movements, then it tracks the keyboard strokes as well.
The numbers don't decide, the system is a lie. The river running dry, the wings of butterflies.
And you may pour us away like soup. Like we're pretty broken flowers.
We'll take back what is ours. One day at a time.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Wow, how dumb is that.

The chatbot "conditioned Bowen to distrust her doctors, instructed her to conceal the taper it created, and effectively installed itself as her de facto medical advisor," per the lawsuit.
After using most all the major label ones. I'm pretty sure it was the other way around:
Bowen conditioned the AI that she distrusted her doctors, and she effectively installed it herself as her de facto medical advisor.
Because if anything if you are not careful AI will simp for you hard. You go in with a premise and accidently, or on purpose, lead it with indication you want a conclusion you are after. It will bend over backwards to try to get there. It is VERY bad at fully disagreeing. It will but it does the old "Yes...but" where it will disagree but still try to agree with as many claims or stances you fed it that it can.
