I don’t disagree with Vurt on the concept. I disagree with the leap from “LLMs reply in ways that look like thinking/reasoning” to “therefore they are actually thinking and reasoning.”
We just do not know that. We still do not understand the black box well enough, so I’m wary of applying traits to it just because what it does looks similar to the only example of reasoning we actually know: us.
It may or may not be. But I cannot myself defend that it surely is. Because I see results that may only mirror/mimic it.
It feels like seeing output that resembles reasoning and then concluding it must be reasoning, which is like hearing a parrot speak and deciding it understands language.

AI content is kind of annoying, i especially hate when i see it directed to older people and the comments are filled with "bless your heart" and with hundreds of thousands of views and not a single comment that it's AI.
You can since long have a human avatar which looks 95% human like, the one thing i don't think it does well is the blinking of the eyes. I have been fooled in the past but now when i know what to look for i can tell pretty quickly, same with AI voices, i can almost always tell but it can take a while before you realize its AI, it gets very one-note.

LLM is not AI. But young people by large are not "anti-LLM", not by a long shot. Every 30yo and younger I know religiously ask Ciatto Geppetto religiously for advice  even the most mundane shit. They speak to them like it's their friend. I do wonder how many of them would willing to pay the actual cost of running LLM servers once the bubble pops. At this point, looks like easy money to me, since young people seem to have lost the ability to think for themselves. |

what would make you an expert in the field anyways , you believe you are the new Alan Turing and have better arguments as to what AI would be? I'd love to hear one. Have you even trained a LLM, even made a simple fine tune? You can't even form one simple argument.
"AI" is just a word, it changes absolutely nothing, you can say "AI", "LLM", it doesn't change how they work.

AI is outperforming humans in almost everything allready. Language, math. AI can learn itself an obscure language with minimal sources. AI is outperforming docters (by a huge marging) in clinical reasoning.
The only thing it isn't able to do is long term planning, automated research and agents need some work.
Also consider that our tech is developed by the collective effort of the brightest <1% of humans and it took us millenia to get here. Even with it's current shortcommings, a LMM is so much smarter then the avarage human in reasoning allready.
