There's an online comic about that, somewhere, can't find it right now though...
Was it this one?
Spoiler:
There's actually quite a few dealing with the topic now that I've poked about. Anyways, its somewhat comforting to know that I'm not the only one that suffers from this issue. It's always bugged me.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Being a hoarder in games is the worst ... and sadly I am a hoarder. Oh, I'll just go on with 1/3 hp, and load if I don't perfectly beat that enemy, but no way should I rest and use up resources.
And I end up having a fuckton of resources by the end of the game.
Remember this is how I played witcher 3 as well. And by the end, I had truly a fuckton of alcohest.
lol im the same with 'resting' feels like the world is in danger and i spending days sleeping is a waste.
I used to go through baldurs gate never sleeping until i absolutely needed too
Yep, usually reach the end of the game without using most of the better stuff that I hoarded along the way
On the flipside I usually have tons of stuff to sell and to raise some money if necessary, but the issue is that nowadays money is utterly useless in most RPG's

The way I did it with the candy bars in DX HR, I simply hoarded 5, or however many fit in one slot, until i found a 6th one. then i'd eat one and have 5 again.
@Immunity lol that sums it up pretty much. With DX though it felt even worse then your average consumables because lots of interesting tactics were locked behind having 2+ batteries at once.
Maybe they should use the mechanic from mgsv where moving around recharges your energy. It's simple and makes somewhat sense for an advanced cyborg. Mix some augs in and their you go. If someone wants to dick around for 5 minutes for full energy between every encounter, more power to em.
@Drowning_witch I've started to really try just go full retard with consumables and spend them whenever I see an opportunity. It works out surprisingly well most of the time and makes pickups something to be happy about rather then something to micro manage and stress over
At both Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal, we’ve been listening to everything you’ve had to say about the Augment Your Pre-Order program. When it was first conceived, we wanted the program to give you more choice about what you received in terms of pre-order incentives - because we've seen in the past that when we choose those packages ourselves, and split them across regions, it has caused frustration. We quickly noticed that this approach created even more frustration than before, resulting in a resounding amount of negative feedback.
We’ve spent a lot of time reading through all of your comments, working to understand how we can try to make things right for you. After much thought and reflection, we decided to close down the program and make all of the incentive content available to anyone who pre-orders Deus Ex: Mankind Divided or purchases a Day 1 edition of the game. Additionally, the release date will no longer be changed in accordance with pre-order numbers, and everyone will gain access to the game on February 23rd, 2016.
Your feedback and input is of the utmost importance to us-- as it’s your loyalty and passion for our franchises that gives us the opportunity to continue providing you with great gaming experiences.
I have to wonder if that was the plan all along, or at least a contingency plan ready to deploy if the reaction was bad enough. Now they likely end up looking like good guys to the average slob.

I am pretty sure they had a "back-up" plan in case their "special" preorder strategy would not get a positive feed-back. Heck, even "I" would be prepared with some B plan IF the A option would be something new / hard to digest / hard to predict a response.

My GF drives me insane with that. She'll just truck along without using any finite resource no matter how hard it is because "I might need them later". Then eventually the game is over and she never used anything. ARGH!

Have to say I'm exactly the same. You just might need that stuff later and seems like such a waste to use em.

Square Enix released two videos, a short animated DX1/2/3/4 trailer and a ~23 minute long documentary. I'm currently watching it and they have interviewed Warren Spector about the original. (Maybe part 2 as well? Let's see.)

And to tie in with the 15th Anniversary, Square-Enix and Caustic Creations did a "deal" (all hush-hush, "we'll tell you later, lol") about cross-promotion. They're sending out early copies now;
"Great as Human Revolution's story arc was, you get to the end and you can just play with your saved game to choose one of the four endings," says Proulx. "This time, we wondered, what if a few of the choices you made in the first hours of the game could impact what happens at the end?"
Quote:
"We don't have a meter in the game that says if you're good or evil," says DeMarle "You make your choices, you see the impact in the game and that's it. The aspect that's critical to us is to get the player to choose."
"And to live with the consequence," she adds.

It's clear that Eidos Montreal has listened to their fans, but sadly not everything has been improved in Mankind Divided. The hacking mini-game makes an annoying comeback and even though they've upgraded it, it still feels as confusing as it was in Human Revolution. Back then we had to source a YouTube clip that explained exactly how the mini-game worked; if it's necessary to have gameplay explained by a third-party, then it's simply not well designed. It's weird that a developer, one that so eagerly wants to improve their previous game, stubbornly holds on to a mini-game that is, at best, confusing.

We move slowly towards our target, but we only manage to take five steps before our mission commander tells us a sandstorm is on the way and we need to hurry.
By now we're deaf to comments like those. It's an often used trick, designed to push the player through the level and give a false sense of urgency. There is no doubt in my mind that the sandstorm will hit regardless of us whether we hurry through the level or take our time. Or so we thought. We decided to run through the level after playing it a few times, not to test whether the sandstorm would hit - we had no doubt that it would - but to see if the game allowed for a speed run.
As we got to the end of the level, we realised we were engaging in the final shootout without a blinding sandstorm blazing through the streets. We had to adapt our tactics and we loved every second of it.

Jesus Christ... Someone should just fire these fucking people, I swear to god. There was nothing "confusing" about the game in the first place, you brainless fucking gorm.
