Well, Gran Turismo is a console game for a casual audience. You want 'true' accuracy you have to hit the simulators and unfortunately there isn't ONE game that does everything, it's split between iRacing, Live for Speed, rFactor, GTR/2, NetKar Pro, Richard Burns Rally, Nascar Racing 2003... and maybe some others I'm forgetting.
As for this Ferrari title I'm not even going to bother. I thought BMW's offering a year or so ago was pretty good as it was based on the GTR engine, but these sorts of things don't have much traction for me. Install, play, feel underwhelemed and delete.
Oh and;

Unless that's sarcasm based on the quality of the game, they did release a Ferrari title on consoles not too long ago. It's supposed to be 'decent' but I never bothered.

I don't play Gran Turismo as a simulation. It's a game for the car enthusiast more than anything else, something to marvel at and play with. Not to say that the racecraft isn't enjoyable, it is, just that it's always going to pale in comparison to a PC simulator. For me that distinction is always there, so I don't get hung up on what it doesn't do and just enjoy what it does.

Even on the PC has its problems, and detractors, but it also has a lot of features that are enviable like dynamic weather and (linearly) evolving track conditions. The most realistic I've played is iRacing, it's incomplete feature wise but the actual driving feedback is the most involving, challenging and realistic of any I've ever played. This is where games like Gran Turismo fall down rather heavily as tracks aren't polished, smooth surfaces. The laser scanned tracks of iRacing (combined, crucially, with its physics engine rFactor lovers ) puts other titles to shame. It's hard to go back to anything else after that.

yes but iracing it to expensive (pay for every track/car), there are too many ovals (ovals suck), and too many redneck cars....
simbin's games still give the most complete package... (gtr2, gtr-evo, stcc, and off course all the mods.)

Based on those screens how did they even get the Ferrari license. That 599's model looks like shit.

Just gave it a try. Entertaining for what it is, had fun sliding the cars around. LoL @ the instant replays.
