Lately i've been looking for a future upgrade of my external HDD
Actual one's a Maxtor OneTouch7 500GB
I've seen lately new HDDs with 1TB of storage
Western Digital My Book Essentials 129€
Lacie (BUT HAD SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH AN OL Lacie HDD!!)
iOmega ego ruby blue (pretty new release) 119€
I would like to hear ya opinions about the 3 of 'em,but i'm not lookin' for a Lacie (like i said...),of course 1TB (i'm tired of changin n changin constantly ><)
Thx in advance
PS: Can somebody also help me with my Logitech headset problem btw? http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=52118

lacie are samsung drives, so that's what they should be valued as
i have no experience with them so i can't say either way
maxtors are poison as usual, so i would avoid them like the plague
iomega are seagate, so i would keep clear of them aswell to be safe
WD are reliable so from that list that's what i would go for

Same here, 2 WD Mybook's
If you can, go for the fire-wire models, that is if you have a fire-wire port on your case (Mobo/IO). As it is much faster then USB 2

Well,i've finally bought my 1TB WD MyBook Essential Edition (Green BoxeD)
When i connected it into my PC and opened what it contained,it shows that there are already stuff in it (a setup.exe,documentation)...
Is it possible to erase all that without any problem?,or can i move it into a new folder in case i shouldnt delete it?...and what does the setup makes?..
HELP!!!

all mybooks come FAT32 with some bullshit already installed on it. Some require a trick to formatting em. With mine I had to show all hidden files and take them off read-only or whatever, delete them, then windows let me reformat em, I did it through windows though, prob wouldn't have had this issue had I did it through startup
