is that an assumption, or is it a tested statement?

tested.
I updated original release (replacing all files back, except sound) and patched it. So far, no issues. Also in rti money is now as it should be (no more 60k from fur traders and stuff).

Razors pack should fix their release while at the same time removing Steam dependencies compared to what I tried to achieve with my smaller update packs which also requires a loader program to use with the updated content so Razors fix would be better and I assume it also includes the sound_fx.pack file due to it's size.
Strange that the game didn't update for you Cox, I only saw it flash briefly as the EXE was updated fairly quick but it has changed and yeah I also noticed that patch for Steam itself but I installed that earlier.
(That little EXE update is why I repacked my "patch" archive in order to maintain it and keep it up to date.)
And here's the main NCF files for the game.

I am gonna reinstall razer release from scratch then. I havent played it enough, so no savegames. Whats the sequence to follow. install the razer release without any modifications(changing sequence of sid files) and then run the update 2 from razerdox?
so no need for soundpack, main.pak or Jbeckan's manual patch?

Yes, install RZR release normally, then copy over files from rzr dir on DVD1. Then install update2 and copy over crack from rzr dir of update2.

No idea. I think RZR release as well as update2 are meant to be English only.

Update 2 is less than 500mb, right ? Does it fix that huge sound pack file ? I haven't downloaded that.
Is it really all that's needed, besides the original rzr release ?

Yes, it fixed everything that was wrong with initial release and also brought the game to the latest version.

Given the previous trainwreck, I'll wait for a couple more confirmations. But if it's true, awesome!

diplomacy in etw is fun thing lol. I'm playing Prussia, and obviously my first enemy contact was with Poland-Lithuania (who else), i took half their regions (inclusive Poland) and then waited, couple turns later i offered them Poland back , together with a peace treaty and an Alliance. They agreed , obviously. Then i proceeded and did the same with Austria-Hongrary (conquered half their regions incl. Austria, waited couple rounds and gave it back for Peace + Alliance) So now i have a "buffer" inbetween me and Russia and the Ottomans. Fun thing is tho, my Allies tear each other apart lol. Well Austria is tearing a new one to Poland actually (they just conquered Poland Region lol). Still both are my "Allies".
Now who's next ... Sweden (they're holding Hannover) or France (Rhineland and Alsace) ... hm .. my dream of a united German Empire is so damn close ...
ps: Updated game still runs without a hitch.

Better than prior to the patch? Have you noticed performance improvements? How about the duel videos? Are they still choppy?

What's the problem with just testing the damn thing? Why

It's just 400MB ffs. You've downloaded a 12GB game, but find 400MB more too much?

My files are messed up. I would need to totally wipe them and reinstall. And that takes more than 30 minutes, Also applying the update2, then testing. Actually, I'm not in the mood to play this game, I just need to archive it in a good "state" for the near future.

Haha, well you should learn to back up your files. I have learned long time ago the hard way, never to overwrite anything without making a copy.

what files lol.
1. copy the content of /RAZOR1911 from disk1 into install dir, overwrite all files it contains.
2. move updater into main dir
3. run updater
4. copy new exe from update 2 into main dir
5. play
i don't see your problems lol.
and jbeckman : perfomance seems better, duel videos still "hitch/slowdown" periodicly.

As poor as combat AI is, I think the worst part is the campaign map AI. In the time it has taken me to conquer almost a third of europe with Sweden, the other nations have done nothing of significance, making them very easy pickings as small as they are. Even the nations that have armies don't seem to be using them much.

Nah I agree the campaign AI is seriously way too passive. I finished a Long Campaign with Sweden and ended up having all of Europe, all of America and half of India. And every single region I conquered basically just sat there waiting.
