Up the 4th level I guess I could use PhysX on. Then, the hitching started and once I turned the PhysX off the game still runs perfect and I'm loving it

So we've seen the visual difference between physx on and physx off but what's the fps decrease ?

Almost no decrease in performance if you got nvidia even in huge action scenes with tons of physics going on. Dunno about ati. Man I love nvidia and physx, just spent 10 mins doing nothing but breaking glass and observing all the awesome physx effects Very Happy

I got to the ship level and gave up - not worth the time or frustration.

DICE has been pumping out garbage ever since BF2142, and it looks likes this is no exception.
Next shit out the door - BF: Heroes.

On a side note, I did like the cutscene style, it reminded me of A Scanner Darkly.

Working fine for me with the crackfix, just finished the game about two hours ago. One thing I did notice though, when trying to boot up Mirror's Edge with the crackfix through STEAM, it would crash instantly at the splash screen. I'd figure that Xfire would have the same effect due to same sort of OSD injection method. Try closing out Xfire, if you have it open, and any other program that puts any sort of OSD up in your game. They worked fine with the first crack, but now with the crackfix it's an instant crash.
Hope this helps someone. (I'm on XP SP3, by the way)

Hi I am getting crashes too. loaded the intro then CTD with no error. used both crack 1.0.1 and 1.00.

I am using 7950GT with latest driver and Physx. I think others with 7950GT cant play this game right?

for time being im sticking with xbox360 version even though i hate the damn gamepad for FPS games.

Gotta say the physx stuff really adds a lot of character to the game. The visuals are really enhanced by it. Like one part in chapter one, when you run through clear plastic drapes. Seeing them bend around you is pretty cool. Hope more games use it in the future. My real hope though, is Nvidia and ATI will stop acting like babies and get together to make it an industry standard.

The level design, when it works, is great. However, it mostly doesn't work. Can't remember how many times I've died in this game. Certain ledges can be grabbed - while others, that look exactly like them result in you falling to your death.

The same goes for the combat. I don't understand why they even bothered.

About the colours, they're just stylish, they don't have to be realistic Smile

And about lvl design.. Well, no offence, but it works in the right hands Smile maybe you're not too good at jumping Wink anyone who has played mario on snes will have no problems Rolling Eyes

Yeah, I completely dig the level design and the stylish look with bright color highlights. I think the game looks amazing. But must play with vsync on because of so much white color screen tearing becomes very visible.

hahah well, I didn't even necessarily think this game was that good .. but the night I burned it (for x360) I couldn't put it down for a good 6-7 hours. That at least should mean it's a decent game even if it doesn't pass the usual nfohump standards Razz

to dismiss it because the colour scheme is "queer" or because you can't figure out where you can jump, or because you don't like combat in a non-combat game, or you live in a genetically depleted state like texas .. well ... follow the link I provided Wink

Ok, this is what I did to get the game to work:

After applying reloadeds patch and crack i tried to start it up but it didn't work. So I put the exe to run as windows 2000 and also run the game as administrator. This made it work for me, hope it works for you.

There's not much of it but some smaller touches here and there.

First there's the character "ragdoll" system, this isn't exactly accelerated via PhysX capable hardware though but it's pretty noticeable when you kill a enemy and he's flung around a bit, push enemies into objects and there's also a big chance of them being stuck inside them in some way. (Limbs getting stuck into walls and such.)

Secondly there's the "cloth" effect seen via plastic drapes hanging from certain objects and that blue cloth usually near scaffoldings and also that plastic wrap on certain objects plus flags, can be torn if shot.

Then there's particle effects like dust, smoke, debris (All affected by wind as well.) and glass (Breaking windows and such, usually hits performance quite hard on non CUDA devices including the older PhysX accelerator card.)

Without PhysX enabled you won't notice most of these effects as they are removed but they don't exactly stand out much either and don't add anything to the gameplay as such, mainly visual improvements though they do look pretty nice if you ever stop and look at them. Very Happy

Hope that explains it. Smile

That was the only thing that hit the performance for me. Someone should find a way to somehow disable just that effect. Everything else is pretty much easy on the performance.
