I've got 3GB DDR2 RAM @667mhz on my PC (See my signature,P5K Deluxe)

I was wondering if that's enough to boot up or load stuff more faster or that i should get more RAM or change the ones i have to better ones.

The thing is..more RAM with 1066mhz or stay with what i have?,i use Windows XP SP3 (Anti-Vista,but maybe in a future i'll put it on...and i wanna save some time/money before anything)

If u guys recommend me to upgrade, what should i get?,there are these Kingston DDR2@1066mhz 1GB but i dunno how much will they cost for each one..and i only have 4 RAM Slots..

help?

Your current OS is 32 bit. It wont see or use anything above 3 gigabytes anyway.
I don't think you will notice anything significant with faster ram.

You need a 64 bit OS to take advantage of anything over 3 gigs.

The same, the only difference as big_gun stated is whether u use a 32 or 64 bit os.

100% agree. If you are not planning at least XPx64 I also don't see the point.

I agree. i'm running Vista 64 and I play all games with no problems. All my apps work that I have always used. In fact, some of my older games work within Vista 64 when they WOULDN'T work within Windows XP.
MS dropped the ball with Vista initially and that hurt it. But they have really patched it up quite nicely and I like it. It takes some getting used to though. Things aren't where they were in XP and some things are renamed for no apparent reason such as, you no longer look for uninstall programs in the control panel to remove something. Now, that function is under Programs and Features.

You dont always have to have specific 64 bit drivers.
All my 32 bit apps work fine in Vista 64.

By the way, I was running a system nearly identical to yours under Vista 64 with no problems other than what i was experiencing with my EVGA 680 mobo. But that wasn't Vista 64's fault.

Agreed , the fear of upgrading to Vista 64 is a thing of the past , it's the best OS you could ever run on your computer , I also run a lot of shit in the background and it still runs great

if you're going vista then you rather go 64, it's faster and more reliable, your C2D will run it great don't forget that it's a 64 processor for a reason
you can grab another 1GB , ram is pretty cheap these days it's never a problem

no driver issues AT ALL as long as your hardware is not 1999 which yours isn't

most games work for me , I yet have to encounter a compatibility error and I have been using it for many many months now, and yes my copy is pirated also , VISTA SP1 64bit OEM doesn't need any activation

how about applications? (Sorry for being annoying but i wanna make sure before anything)

I have an HP Scanjet 2200c,in Vista without SP1 didnt worked but with SP1 did! (32bit we're talking)..you mean with 64bit it'll still work along with other hardware (Wacom Bamboo,HP Deskjet 5940,Dazzle Video Capture thingy,etc..)?

Holy dooley fast answer.but i dont get it,i tought 32bit/x86 was incompatible 100% with 64bit/x64...that's what i've read throu google...

Btw,can you choose x64 at installation or do u have to DL a Vista SP1 with it?

Thanks, that saves me some worries..i'll try gettin' Vista on my 2nd HDD and test it n stuff..i hope my C2D is faster than what it is on XP on Vista (even after applyin' an XP patch with reg edit)

That's your best bet to see.
I have not had any issues with 32 bit apps. Vista 64 has also been far more stable for me than Windows XP ever was.

You have to download a 64bit installation.

Did you read the stuff I gave you? It explains why 32bit applications work with 64bit processor/OS.

Edit: Right, it was rl;dr for you Razz Well, read it when you have time, it's interesting.

What do you think the "32 bits contra 64 bits" section is for? Neutral

XP x64 is a waste of time, it's incompatible with tons of stuff, unstable... Basically a shoddy attempt by Microsoft to fulfill a promise they once made. Poor support etc...

Either stick with XP 32-bit or eat your stupid illogical Vista hatred and go Vista x64.
