Buy a car from the guy in the first map and kill the rest, the officer has a pass that can be used to get through the roadblock (second sector)

Thanks CaptainLove, will try that.

edit: it worked and took about 2h Smile Now I've got better guns for rest of the mercs too and plenty ammo to go along. Could even do an addition squad, if I'd had the money to hire them, but I'm sure the trainstation will bring income too.

Glad it worked mate, did you enjoy it? The UI and controls feel so clunky...

I do enjoy it. To spend 5 hours on a map and finally beat it, you feel like you've accomplished a lot. The camera tweak helped with the controls, shortcut buttons would too, but I use the buttons. Might be a bit clunky, but that doesn't spoil the gameplay.

You also notice more and more thing as you play it. Like that bullets actually change direction. Had the camera behind my merc, tried to shoot a baddie, but ricochet of a tractor. Also mercs and enemy leaning to get a better line to a shot and that you can right click more AP to aiming.

Jagged Alliance had the preserve points to shoot, that this is missing though. It was nice to take a couple steps closer and then shoot. but it's not like I want to get closer to Hired Guns enemy Smile The amount of tactics and environment usage + strafe this offers on top of JA gameplay makes up for what is missing.

12/15/2008 – 1.07.001
Features and Enhancements
• Changed camera settings – Tweaked camera for more zoom and angle freedom. Note that the additional "system-free.cfg" can be used to replace the default system.cfg if you want complete camera freedom. However, this can cause unusual camera behavior on some maps and in some situations.
• Change grenade range – Decreased strength of enemies on medium and easy
• Decreased the number of grenades most enemies carry to 2 or 3 on medium and easy
• Decreased stamina cost of shooting, increased strength of all mercs on medium and easy
• Increased marksmanship for all mercs on medium and easy
• Mercs are now less expensive at the medium level, which should make the play balance on this level more reasonable.
• Slightly increased the armor piercing chance for shotgun ammo and some small caliber and hollow point ammo types.
• Increased shotgun accuracy.
• Increased sniper rifle accuracy substantially
• Increased all weapon accuracy
• Increased armor piercing capabilities of shotguns, and lower caliber ammo on easy and medium
• All mercs will now come with at least some ammo for their starting weapon and starting ammo has generally been increased.
• Increased the availability of ammo and some weapons at Dickie Jay's, including making some weapons and ammo appear earlier in the game.
• Armor now appears more frequently at Dickie Jay's.
• Reduced enemy armor levels on easy and medium.
Fixes
• Fixed vanishing squad bug

Sure now there is a patch when I'm almost through with the game xD Seem like the patch will actually make the easy level easy. I'd think that medium would be a good difficulty after the patch, now easy is only option if you are not really hardcore.

Camera fix is nice. All nade improvements are welcome, too much holy grenades on enemy. Sniper rifles don't hit anything, so good improvement too. Some ammo is very rare now (7.42x51 or what the sniper rifle ammo was especially).

Enemy armor is silly good and mercs are really weak, but I only hired the strongest so that they don't pass out constantly. You do however get great armor of the enemy and plenty of grenades after you kill 'em all.

Only have Palace guards training site and Palace to go, they are both probably silly hard, but don't know if I want to patch or not.

edit: "the AI now throws grenades less frequently and less accurately" <- hmm, that alone makes it worth to patch. Mercs insta killing heat seeking missile nades have kept me saving often Smile

Seems to be official now, Jagged Alliance 3 is delayed from the end of 2008 to sometime in early 2010

Haven't played them but have heard quite a bit of good things about JA/JA2 so I've no idea if it'll manage to live up to the quality of those games.

Ouch. Yet another shot to the yarbles for the ja series future. With a date this far out, I have little faith that JA3 will see the light of day. My guess is that they are reassigning devs off of this project onto something more likely to make money.

There is no way they can possibly expect a game to succeed with the current engine and graphics one year from now at the pace pc gaming technology is evolving at. The only other option would be a redesign from the ground-up, which would be a HUGE investment of capital. And I am sorry but I just don't see any bean-counters in their right minds approving that kind of budget for such a niche title.

Anyways sorry to inject doom and gloom into this announcement, but hard to be optimistic when a beloved franchise is kicked around and mistreated until it's just better to let die than give off any further false hope.
