i guess you know this already, but common causes for stuttering (or options that influence it) are:
- vsync
- aa & af
- texture-loading (reducing quality might help)
- audio or video-drivers
- rendering path (dx9 vs. dx10)
- background processes (AV, firewall, etc.)
- bad programming
have you tried all the above (apart from the last one) ?

And developers wonder why gamers pirate their titles. Man if I would have purchased this blindly (like the idiot EA thinks everyone is) I would have went NerdRage on someones face.

IGN Tears Need For Speed Undercover A New One
When IGN gives a game 4/10 you know it's gotta be bloody awful:
Need for Speed Undercover is a poor game with a ton of problems, both technically and in terms of design. The open world design is completely lost as you can't actually drive to any event, many races are closed off which means no cross traffic, and it's incredibly easy. The presentation could have been good but winds up feeling totally contrived and confusing at times. The game could, and should, have been leaps and bounds better than it is. As it stands, though, there's absolutely no reason to pick this up over the likes of Burnout Paradise or Midnight Club: Los Angeles, both of which demolish it in every way possible.
The only two positives I can speak for about the game are its sense of speed and its great sound samples. When you get into a fast ride, like a McLaren F1 for example, you really get a sense of absolutely flying through the city. This part was at least done well. The sound samples for the cars (and tire screeches for that matter) are also quite awesome, though they're not mixed as well as could be. When you hit the gas the game sounds awesome, but letting your foot off the gas results in a dulled engine sound that's barely audible at times. So the sound is good overall, though it isn't perfect by any means.

This game is abysmal. It feels like a low budget unknown Russian or Ukrainian small firm game that sells in supermarkets for 10 euros. Shadows look horrible, it's all glitchy, worst usage of motion blur and bloom ever witnessed. It looks like it uses already bad prostreet engine but in this it's even worse. Actually prostreet right about now seems like a pretty good game when I think about it.

The game crashes on the first movie everytime, texture tearing and all sorts.
Does anyone actually know if the crack it causing some of these problems?
I'll wait for retail and patch.

like you've said, just wait for the RLD release (on Nov 20)
but on the other hand, do you really want to play this crappy game anyway?

I hope these reviews and the reception overall sends a message to EA. Hopefully the next installment will head in a completely different direction.
And yeah I tried all that stuff but I think it's the game itself. Scenery and textures pop in constantly during a race. It might be a sound issue too.
EDIT: Oh yeah + all the damn visual artifacts. Shimmering in the distance, shadows that follow you, etc.

Anyone else stunned by the loading times? Seriously, I usually don't give a monkey's, but given the poor quality graphics, why should the loading times be worse than MW?
Edit for specs: Palit 8800gt Sonic 512mb, C2D 4300 @1.86, 2gb RAM, Creative XtremeMusic Sound. Like most people here, can run Fallout 3 and FC2 on max or near-max settings. This lags on everything from the menus to the races. Changed all the settings up and down, still gives me the start of a headache after 5 minutes. It does appear to be a badly programmed game.

Going by same reviewers ProStreet is a ~8/10.
And above average is not sucking. Oh well I'm done defending a game against sheep who go by reviews. And no I have not played it yet.

loads fast here. But i also have the occasional stuttering.
my 2c:
the races are fun, but too easy. The tab-thing makes the game annoyingly fucked up, because it doesnt actually feel like being in a city but rather just like jumping from race to race without any control over where and why. The story also feels like dropped on top without much originality. And since the races are too easy (or am i that good really? ) it feels all pretty mindless after a couple of races. I hope it will get harder later on.
The menu-streamlining is great imho, but the tuning options and the other "rewards" dont make sense.
I think it s a decent time-waster, but only half of the game it could have been.

it kinda is exactly that. Just some bad design decisions thrown on top of it, making it way less fun than most wanted (judging from about two hours of gaming)

No, the gfx are much much worse. THey could have used the prostreet engine and left everything the same as Most wanted.

well, i dont really want to argue, but to my eye it looks on par with most wanted. And the cars in traffic look much better imho. The trees look worse and bloom could be toned down abit
but game-wise it cant touch most wanted, so comparing them is useless anyways...
