Notice your Oblivion highlights include only Graphics/Visual enhancements. The game has no soul, it's an open world with no justification to explore due to the lack of reward/progression + bad gameplay/overall mechanics. Sure it's pretty when you manage 50 community mods.
Doesn't deserve half the praise it gets. And this is coming from a hardcore RPG guy, both ends of the scale. True role playing games + JRPG.
I think Fallout 3 will suffer the same.

I thought Oblivion had some greatly written quests, when you joined the assassins man those where golden, sneaking and putting poison into some old guy's food, the dialogs when you came back.. and the one in the mansion when you killed each guest one by one when they where alone it was like Scooby Doo, who is the murderer, who is killing us, well I am

What? How exactly did you come to that conclusion? Actually those pics someone posted, of Two Worlds + text modifications look better than Oblivion.
Oblivion as a whole was fantastic, and the Shivering Isles was even better for its wacky world it introduced.

Where did I say anything about graphics only? It's the best, but with the mods for textures it's even better.

I kind of enjoyed Two Worlds. Bought it cheap, would probably been pissed if I pre-ordered a collectors edition or something along that line. But I can see the game for what it is. It definatly has flaws and bugs. Just there is something there in the mess that still made me play.
I do wish they would had made a "normal" co-op mode for the game insted for the horrible online part. Or that they would have made a true open world with other players. Right now it's like a much worse version of Guild Wars.

Not a crack really, it's a keygen. Once you activate, every update should work fine.

To have graphics as I posted on previous page you have to create a txt file in the main folder of the game, name it for example "2w.txt" and paste this into the file:
Quote: | twoworldscheats 1
ec.setenginefarplanepercent 333
Engine.GFadeFar 1000
Engine.GFadeNear 900
Engine.GrassQ 3
Engine.SFarRng 2500
Engine.HDR 1
Engine.DBG_HDROff 0
Engine.UseStencilShadows 1
Engine.TreeWindFactor 5
Engine.AlphaFadeNear 1550
Engine.farplane 2500
Engine.DLandFarClipp 20000
Engine.DLandFarClippOBJ 20000
Engine.LOD0 5000
Engine.LOD1 10000 |
Then while ingame press ~ and in the console write:
where 2w is the name of your file. Remember - it has to be in the game main folder!
U can also achieve this via Two Worlds Control Pannel, but experimenting with it can be quite difficult.
U can see some more screens of the "modded" version in my xfire profile:

I can't find it for the PC, they usually give a link to updates on the official forums. 1.7 is the last official 'patch', so 1.8 might be epic edition exclusive. Don't quote me on it htough, I just took a quick look through the official forums.

No, addon one is 1.7 and addon two is 1.8, which the epic edition includes. Shouldn't matter for SP though. both are MP quests so there's zero influence on SP.

According to a mod on their forums the epic edition contains two addons while normal additions do not. Maybe he's wrong then.

Patch 1.7 didn't really update the game though, exe was only changed to display 1.7 as the version number but the main changes were in the /WDFiles/ folder where the game has it's data files located.
Patch 1.7 only added Content01.wd and Content01_Lan.wd with the first file containing the new MP maps/missions and the second file added the language files for it.
(So that it shows proper text depending on the language used for the game.)
Patch 1.8 doesn't necessarily need to change the exe an could just be another such .WD file.

Well, why not have both addons ? (I've bought the original version) I've already emailed their support to ask if they will release the second addon as an update.

They said they would release it later but they never said when.
(Only that it would be sometime after the release of the Epic Edition which was supposed to include them. - It's somewhere on the official forums.)

I tried TW back when it was new and lost interest pretty quickly... Seems like the patches fixed a lot of the issues, so giving it another go now. I don't remember anything about the game/skill mechanics tho, are unbalanced/overpowered spells etc. still an issue? What should I avoid if so?

The latest patch (Aside from the one that only adds some new MP content.) balanced out the game pretty well but there's still some minor "problems"
Magic:
Certain spells are extremely overpowered and others are very under-powered for example Resurrect can be used to farm XP or even break the game if you abuse it on quest related characters whereas Necro power can dominate most foes while healing you.
Combat:
Weapons can be stacked pretty high but the amount of bonuses are limited as of the latest patch so you can't take a single low-entry weapon and turn it into a god-item.
Creatures:
Most just attack and occasionally dodge or use special abilities, improved as of the latest patch though but the super creatures still remain and several of them scale to the players strength. (Bandits and Groms for example and Ogres and similar can one-hit-kill high-level players.)
Other:
Quests can be both very involving and very shallow and the dialogue accent can take some time getting used to, this hasn't really changed with patches, main quest is unfortunately pretty brief and you can't continue after beating it.
Visuals:
Still look great but you can see that the engine has aged a bit, especially the world itself such as distant objects and the tree engine (TreeGen or whatever it was called, not speedtree.)
Can be tweaked as well to push visuals up further but it'll take quite a powerful computer at those kind of settings, I'd recommend the Two Worlds Control Panel but it can be a bit cumbersome if you're not used to it.
I'd still recommend the game as it's a good RPG/Action combination though it's not exactly Morrowind or Oblivion quality (Hard to say a title though but I'm sure you understand.) but at the same time it's not as messy as Gothic 3 (Or it's expansion) either. - 7.5/10 or so I'd give it and the sequel (Temptation) looks to be much improved from what I've read about it.

It was mentioned somewhere (could've been the official forums) that one should avoid the hard difficulty, mainly because the combat gameplay becomes too tedious with the increased hp/resistance of the enemies. I don't mind a challenge - and starting with a complete weakling character a la Gothic can be real fun - but does it stay like that throughout the game?
Edit: Shame they didn't patch the main character's voice work, the actor did such a hilariously bad job on it I almost wish the character was mute. |
Later in the game you can become extremely powerful, but there are still certain creatures that can kill you in one hit. I remember having to abuse certain spells to kill stone golems, even right near the end of the game.
I actually find the main characters voice over to be quite humorous on occasion, such as when you kill a bandit and he says "You're dead", or it starts raining and he says "It's raining!" Plus his moans and grunts sometimes sound like the voice actor was enjoying himself a bit too much.
