The gameplay vids show all you need. More info will spoil everything.

It feels RPG-lite this time around... Apart from the gore the game world seems dumbed down somehow... Focus on grfx and effects instead of character development, story and RPG-elements?
The warehouse sequence in the movies reminded me of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. though for some reason.

You concluded that after watching 15 mins of gameplay? Mainly action sequences? Wow.

I'm not the OP but I feel the same way. For me they feel out of place because they look like they burned down LONG LONG ago(when the bombs hit), with no fuel left. Basically a piece of scrap metal. So why should they explode if it's only a piece of metal?
It's like a guy thought "hey we need exploding cars" and just inculded it without thinking about it -.-
yeah that may sound harsh but personally I was like WTF why did that car just catch fire and then explode. So it's not like I'm watching the vids 100 times just to spot things I can bitch about in a forum.

What makes you said that the atomic blast hit any of those cars?

Because everything around it is destroyed?
No matter how you look at it, it is fundamentally flawed. It's not that hard to believe the beth are capable of such mistakes when you consider the whole concept of Megaton. Thats like one big design mistake..

It would be valid criticism in a game that tries to be a real-life simulator, but it's not. Especially with this game i've noticed that people are far more criticizing than with any other games. It's not like the splatter or physics effect is totally realistic either, or the weapons, or the.. i can go on forever, the older FO games weren't true-to-life simulations either.
In a Mad Max movie this is expected, if a car is invloved - it can, and will, explode in a FO game some over the top situations are also to be expected, at least my way of seeing the series.

So basically you say anything goes because it's a game and it's not meant to be realistic. |
No i dont, I just mean exploding car wrecks isnt such a big deal, it's not any worse than exploding barrels standing in every corner of most FPS's and in some RPG's.. people make everything in this game such a big deal just because it's FO and take every chance they can to bash Bethesda, it's just getting a bit predictable and boring...

You should look at SC2 then. The pro players are up in arms over a aspect called MBS or Multiple Building Selection that is making blizzard delay the game further. It isn't going to affect the balance of the game you idiots.

haha yeah I was going wtf? when the car started burning and then exploded in the video. it slightly broke the atmosphere for me but w/e, it's nothing game breaking and adds to gameplay

Actually it is.
Units may not change, but the units is not the only way to balance the game, both the game mechanics and even the UI play part in the balance.
It's really simple actually, without MBS he'll have to select x different buildings regardless if he gives the building a hotkey or not. With MBS however he can select x buildings and group them to 1 hotkey, while being able to build from all of them.
There are a lot of different techniques in Starcraft to gain a tactical advantage, techniques which were never considered, and techniques which have actually been deemed exploits and fixed.
It is also possible in Starcraft to group your aircraft so that they appear to be a single aircraft, it's also possible to make the enemy unable to target stuff underneath airlifted buildings etc, it is possible to trigger mines and retreat without them damaging your units.
Just like removing those aspects of the game would change the balance, so will removing or keeping MBS change the balance of the game.

But exploding barrels standing in every corner is just that. Stupid.
Why would anyone not make use of the energy cells that are apparently still active in these cars? After all, in a post apocalyptic world, energy isn't exactly easy to produce.
