I think it'll be enough fun to try out. I like these post-apocalyptic worlds and even though I'm no RPG fan, I'll definitely check it out.

I'll try it too, but i'm not getting my hopes up just yet. Maybe, i'll repent after i've played it and come back here with a tail between my legs saying it's the most awesome game in the world, but i'm not counting on it.

how could you make a large wasteland attractive in a open world in 3D? |
1.make a gigantic map
2.post 35 cities on it
3.you move in 2D map view on it with a 3d model (think Final Fantasy)

But yeah what we get its a gore filled ADD kiddie game for adults streamlined for the dumb console folks that love to stare at the TV , this game is now a failure ... think Oblivion with guns on a smaller ONE CITY MAP = Fallout3 , yes we all knew from the start it will be like this |
You do have some interesting ideas. But I do disagree with some of it.
#4 and 5 are fatally flawed. Being in first person and then suddenly jumping into a map full of enemies might be extremely frustrating. Think of a raider ambush you spawn on the map and enemies are opening fire on you in every direction. Basically you would spawn screwed because you can't even see where all the enemies are like in the original Fallouts plus the originals were turn based which made it allot easier to live such a situation. If the AI can at least shoot decently in Fallout 3 this type of encounter would be nearly impossible to live.
#6 is all wrong as most towns don't have that large of a population in Fallout Klamath for example was a rather small trapper town not every place would or even could be like NCR
as the population would be way to low to have so many people fill large towns and cities anyway

#4 and 5 you got VATS that turn this game into a turn base game
#6 thats the point of it to show the emptiness of the world , fallout 2 had big towns that only had 7 npcs , but first you have to scavenge the ruins of this radioactive wasteland city to find them

VATS wouldn't make this game turn based in any way. From what we know, it has nothing to do with turns.
It's actually just a power up gauge that stops time, which is the equivalent of playing Fallout Tactics with infinite AP.

Yeah I'm gonna give them a try right now. I just really hope the only resemblance Fallout 3 has with Oblivion is the engine. I say this because I think Oblivion is garbage as I am a huge RPG fan and Oblivion seemed to be devoloped with the RPG element taking a back seat.

Well Fallout is a great RPG with real RPG elements. Not just the stat and level up system but true role playing as you really do role play and the choices you make are completely up to you. The Fallout games have allot of freedom even compared to games today. You won't regret playing them.
As for Fallout 3... don't put your hopes up to high.

Wow, I never realised just how relevant the satire in fallout was, it's even more masterful that they managed to incorporate it into the gameplay. Maybe I should have persevered and actually finished the game, too late now.

What I understand the game will still make use of AP especially in VATS.

The VATS system is similar to Tactics when playing "real-time". You get your AP's back after x seconds.

The australian thing is basically a text-only change. They (my country) objected to the use of real life drugs being used as stimulants. Morphine and I think a second one specifically. It's not really going to hold back development. Just call 'em Stimulants or whatever ingame.
