WTF?
Quote: | See the great monuments of the United States lying in post-apocalyptic ruin! |
OMG Bethesda are terrorists!
Anyway this
Quote: | Included is an expansive world, unique combat, shockingly realistic visuals, tons of player choice, and an incredible cast of dynamic characters. |
is a load of bull.
If it's anything like Oblivion, it will be a boring empty world filled with boring 'radiant' AI.
Combat isn't unique. In fact it'll be just like any other FPS out there. VATS? It's a gimmick power shot. Sort of like the Reaction Shot in Call of Juarez but with pause.
The visuals look a lot like Oblivion. Which means blocky and stiff textures. Just look at the ground and the jumpsuit in those pics. Also it seems like they're going overboard with the bloom. Everything is so shiny.
Tons of player choice is probably a load of bull once again. Choice here will probably only affect what your reward is. Or maybe it'll be pointless dialog 'choices' with no actual effect once more.
Dynamic characters is a lie. Just like Radiant AI.
Also, read this.

Now tell me, just how stupid is that article? Really? Lobbing nukes left and right? What?
The author of that article is an idiot. It amazes me how he doesn't notice how Fallout 3 (based on what we know) feels nothing like Fallout.

^^ mods were the thing that made oblivion fun, and mods are what will make fallout 3 fun.

So basically, they need modders to polish the game? That's a bad mindset. Next thing we know, Bethesda will just release an open world and leave it to modders to finish the main quest and side quests.

In Bethesda's opinion, of course they don't 'need' modders... But fans of the Fallout series, who might have a very different idea about how the game is supposed to be? For them there's definitely a demand for mods.

But see Bethesda has mentioned that they might not release a CS.
Probably so they can maximize profits for their dog armor.

I wish the Dev's of the original fallouts would have bunched together and bought it from interplay and just independently made the games. They must feel like shit with what Bethesda has done to their baby.

Afaik the only thing they've said about the matter is that it's not decided yet. If I remember right they said the same thing about Oblivion CS back in the day. One possibility I suppose is to release only DLC's at first, then a delayed release of CS after, if it's profit$$$ they're after.

No matter what they will release the CS. They have done it since Morrowind and they won't stop now. It might take time but it will be released.

They've squashed that line of thinking already. TES and Fallout are not the same thing in their eyes, they are (to my knowledge) still officially undecided as to whether they will allow modifications in the same way as TES - but I'd be surprised if they didn't support it.

Well, sadly, I wouldn't be that surprised. Just look at Mass Effect with it's huge modding potential! It's ecuation includes BioWare (NWN HUGE modding community) + Unreal Engine 3 (with it's incredible Unreal.Editor.3). Thus resulting all odds FOR an editor or SDK. Still, BW (or EA) decided to NOT release one. Probably due to multiplatforming. Or.. who know what other marketing decision they might had.
Bethesda's Fallout 3 could fall into the same category. The first reason that comes to my mind is also multiplatforming and the fear of pissing console players off due to the lack of mods. Oblivion is the perfect example for how much more is worth owning the PC version of the game over the console ones. Thousands of great mods add more fun and huge replayability. Guess it's "nuff said" about what mods can do. Especially when we speak of that crap performing Gamebryo engine wich allows even clit piercing of your female nekid companions.
So yea, tbh, I realy fear that they will decide to NOT give us the "mighty" editor tool. Unless they will find a solution to allow adding mods to the console versions of the game. Mainly X360. Afaik PS3 is not such a big problem anymore (check Unreal Tournament 3).

the real reason would probably lie in what they've purposefully left out of the game
like killing children, which would surely be modded in, and would potentially be another hot-coffee debacle

Or Fallout and Fallout 2.
The game will probably be a fun game, but it won't be Fallout. So really, why did they bother getting the license for it when they could have just made their own post apocalyptic game. As it stands, Fallout 3 bares very little resemblance to Fallout. I mean come on, the Brotherhood of Steel, valiant defenders of humanity? Hahaha. They're ineffective boobs too engrossed with acquiring technology. Not knights in power armor trying to close shut the gates of Oblivion.

easy answer, why make a post apocalyptic game of your own and try getting it attention when you could just buy the name of one thats already a legend and not have to work on getting publicity

Well, if 3 follows the 'good' endings of 1 and 2 then the Brotherhood would be defending humanity. Your actions in those games gives you endings that tells you they set off on a path to help humanity recover from the apocalypse.
Anyway, the BoS in 3 isn't the same as the one in 1 or 2. 3 occurs in Washington D.C., which is far from California and the leader of the D.C. faction is acting on his own to be a 'protector'.

Oblivion with guns + Todd Howard's endless puking of empty promises. Going to play through it anyway, just won't run out and buy it on the day of release. As with Oblivion, mods make it a great game. No different here based on current info floating around.

I would rather see this game get canceled and have Fallout die than to see this game released.
