Mysteries of Westgate has actually been done since December 2007 if you check the official forums and sites like www.nwvault.ign.com however due to the developers trying to create a new DRM method to prevent people from pirating this addon it's been delayed a few times.

It should have been released together with patch 1.12 but that DRM system didn't make it in time so they couldn't implement it.

From how things look it will be added to patch 1.13 or shortly afterwards and one can expect MoW to be released shortly afterwards. Smile

Also, it's what they call an "adventure pack", which is not quite as large in scope as an expansion pack. They've said it's like the NWN1 premium modules, but a bit bigger and more professional. It'll be fairly cheap as well (10 bucks or something I think?).

It's from the same people who made Darkness over Daggerford for NWN1 if anyone remembers that.

Does storm of zehir also feature improvements to the editors? A lot of people complained that the editors in NWN2 were far more difficult to use than NWN1. Not surprisingly, NWN1 still has a much stronger mod and MP community.

Seems like the expansion is now out for digital download at Ataris website and D2D. I've got a boxed copy pre-ordered but it's not out in the EU until Friday I believe.

Hope someone can upload it before then, I need a game like this, hehe.

I actually have it pre-ordered on Ataris website (EU English/UK version) and it'll be unlocked and available for download at midnight today (19th/20th November)

Looking forward to it but a day-0 patch (Patch out even before the game is, hehe) isn't a good sign, still it looks like it could be a good RPG title though the engine is a bit clunky and Obsidian still needs to fix some issues. (Several are already fixed and the latest patch corrected the long-requested stealth animations.)

Also seems this was what held up Mysteries Of Westgate as I guess that "DLC" and this expansion use the same protection. (Which happen to be that SecuROM online thing, based on the Alone in the Dark game.)

I think the patch is more due to their normal patching routine (the game is continually updated after all) more than any huge bugs to tell the truth. But yeah, the game is a huge one and I wouldn't be surprised if there are bugs. Still, I didn't have any trouble with the last expansion.

Wasn't aware that the online EU version would be released earlier though.

Also, this expansion will use the old Securom which have been in place since NWN2 came out. The DRM for Mysteries of Westgate is a brand new thing for Atari which will be used only for the "adventure pack program", so it won't affect the game. It took them fucking forever to get it done though, and I feel sorry for the makers of Mysteries of Westgate (Ossian studios) as Atari kinda screwed them over bad.

Interesting. Smile

Also the patch is now officially released and available directly via the auto-update program.

There's also a Storm of Zehir now.

Prolly no one knows but: can you play this expansion and then export your character and play Mask of the Betrayer? I don't want to play the original NWN2 campaign but I never played Mask of Betrayer.

cybtropic, that should be possible. Though you might have to level your character up to lvl 18 (starting level of MotB). I believe they've said most players would end up around 15-ish or so in SoZ.
But MotB levels you up automatically, so should be no problem.

Yea I was thinking so too since you just import your character into MOTB. Doesn't matter where the character is coming from.

THere are some good deals. You can get NWN2 plus both expansions for like $65.

Most of the comments I've been reading from people that already have this game are very positive. It is supposed to have that old 'pen n paper' DnD feel.

Don't install MotB right away after installing NWN. First patch NWN to latest version, then install MotB. Then patch that before installing SoZ.

I remember there were some problems if you install mask over unpatched nwn2

As far as I know.

Install NWN2
Run Updater
Install MoTB
Run Updater (Certain files from MotB will be older than the updated files)
Install SoZ
Once again and for the final time run the updater (Same as with the above "issue")

Latest patch is 1.21 or something like that and includes fixes for both MoB and SoZ so you need to run the updater to get the latest version of the game, alternatively it might be possible to install all three games and run the updater last.

That's how you do it Reg.

And yes, there are no problems so far with SoZ and that method is fine Sergei so long as you don't plan on playing NWN2 OC and MotB.

Of course I'm not sure if there are issues, but with MotB, if you install NWN2 then MotB without patching NWN2 first you will get a gamestopping bug in the first chapter.

Yea i actually had that when MotB came out - but since i've already played both the OC and MotB i don't really care if they stop working. So patch everything separately just to be safe Reg.
