i don't, but i'm building a rig for a friend of mine and i ordered one for that, but i have no idea when it's gonna arrive, 8800gt is in seriously short supply here in germany atm. But i told my buddy about the temperature stuff and that he should consider getting another cooler for the vidcard, so i'm reading up which one to recommend, i guess the Thermaltake is the one to go for right now. If and when i get one i'll try and make some pics for you

i would appreciate that..totally..

but the XFX8800GT 512MB says it requires 500W...mine's 550..isn't that...too much close, besides of the energy required for my other components?!...wouldn't this just make my PC games crash or anything!?...My EN7900GT "minimum requires" 350W...and still my games freezes and have artifacts!!..Decent 47-55C at EVEREST

they usually give the specs according to installing it in a system ...

this one says....

Quote:
425W PCI Express-compliant system power supply with a combined 12V current rating of 28A or more (Minimum system power requirement based on a standard PC configured with an Intel® Core™2 Extreme X6800 processor)

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=346373

don't think you need to worry if you have a good quality PSU

what about the temps on other things? I had a fair amount of freezing because my northbridge chipset was overheating ... added new heatsink and cleaned the dust out .. although it does seem like you have good stuff for cooling in your machine....

do you have a name-brand PSU?

that's kinda weird, that has to be one of the coolest running comps I've seen, and all of your components seem to be pretty high quality. From what I can tell from googling the PSU is quality as well, so you probably don't need to worry about not being able to run the 8800GT.

but yeah, no idea what is causing the artifacts Wink

The normal temperature recommended by most manufacturers for hard drives is 35-40°C, 43°C is hardly "way too high". Smile

On the contrary there was a Google research showing between others things that to have hard drives below the recommended temperature increased the instance of failures a lot.
Look at their graph in the PDF above (3.4 Temperature, Figure 4: Distribution of average temperatures and failures rates), it will show you that at your 27°C temperature you have nearly twice the risk of failure than him with its 43°C. Wink

Google's PDF: http://209.85.163.132/papers/disk_failures.pdf

what i find _slightly_ worrying here is the temperature difference between the 2 cpu cores, that looks like the thermal paste stuff not applied evenly perhaps? Or is core 1 doing something while core 0 is idling? In that case nevermind Smile

What the hell does that mean?

Everest is usually accurate. But if you are using a C2D grab TAT to get on die temperatures.

CPU's are pretty hard to kill bro, you have to be TRYING to murder it to murder it.

That's the misconception with OC'ing - that you'll damage hardware but it's not that easy to do.

hi all
I have a question. I have a motherboard: Gigabyte K8NF-9 and there is 1 PCI express x 16 slot and 2 PCI express x 1 slots on it.
I want to buy the 8800 GT, but I've read this card has PCI 2. Will this card fit on my motherboard? And if the card fit, will it run normally?

Already thanks for answers

PCIExpress 2.0 is backwards compatible.
So yes, it will work on a PCI Express 1.0 or 1.1 slot.
