Why does it matter if its revolutionary? I can see your basis for that arguement in regard to the scores it receives, but I myself dont give a rats ass about PC game review scores, especially magazine reviews, which are by far worse and more biased then any other medium.
I dont expect HL2 to revolutionize anything, I expect the best physics I've ever seen in a game, I want an atmospheric, polished, well directed/choreographed FPS. I expect it to have proper pacing, great in game cutscenes and scripts, challenging AI...the standard things you come to expect in a high production value FPS, if it delivers on those then it deserves all the praise it gets, but it doesnt need to revolutionize the genre.
Besides its a sequel, it has to follow certain guidelines laid down by the first game, you cant change it into a different type of game just to try and advance computer gaming as a whole, they are here to deliver a quality sequel to a great game. You cant say it doesnt add its fair share of new concepts and features over Half-Life 1, I think they have done plenty to justify it being a great step forward for the half-life series, beyond that what can you expect out of this?

Just to note, it uses Havok so many games have the exact same physics including games like Max Payne 2...

Guys, you need to chill out a bit. It's still only a game. We can't sit here and talk about it to much before it's even actually out. I think threads like these should be wiped out when they are started because you can't discuss the gameplay of a game when it isn't even released. In my own opinion, I got extremely spoiled with Far Cry. It beat Doom 3 and Half Life 2 out the door and when I first played that sucker up, the graphics blew me away. Outdoor vistas were incredible. Then I made it to the interior levels, and it spoiled me even more. It ripped off a lot of what Doom 3 had going, with regards to, the lighting quality (shooting at a light fixture and having it go out or having it sway back and forth). Need I also mention the steam effects, the blur effects, etc. Now, it still isn't the best FPS this year, why, because it had many issues. Issues that experienced companies like ID and VALVE just don't make. Doom 3, it was very nice, but the engine is very limited, and I actually stopped playing the game because I got bored. I wasn't dissapointed with it, but I got what I expected. I knew it would be like that. Half Life 2 will be the best FPS this year hands down, but again, I haven't played it yet. I CAN comment on Counterstrike Source. I've been having lots of fun with it, since I ordered it from Steam last week, but then again, I never really played CS all that much before, I was more of a HalfLife Deathmatcher. From what I've played so far, it looks really good, but there's some issues that I don't know if they will be present in HalfLife 2 or not. You can't shoot out the lights, some textures up close look butt ugly, but again, they only may be excluded from CS and not from HL2. As far as Valve goes, they really need some major PR work. I think Injurious is pissed with all that has happened with regards to delays and all that shit. Valve has to make money or they wont be here. I question some tactics they use to make that money but hey, if you like their products buy them, if you dont, dont buy them. It's pretty simple. Valve fucked up lots of shit, but when the game is finally released people will love it.

I actually like Doom3 it has some genuinely scarey moments. I didnt go into it with the misconception that it was going to be highly interactive, just a blast fest like the original Dooms. I actually was surprised when you could interact with some of the computer terminals and such. People keep bashing the reviews, well I would give it a high review also. It has great graphics (if your system can handle it), and great moody atmosphere. What did you expect it to be?
Knowledge is power, but ignorance is bliss. Which do you choose?

Injurious, your arguments for disliking HL2 are so flawed it's unbelievable.
What retard dislikes a game because when he uses noclip to travel outside the maps, there are areas missing from the map. Who gives a shit!? You don't even see that playing the normal game.
Or this gem:
"we'll like the game because valve haven't hyped it up too much"
WTF, thats not a good thing? You're just looking for excuses to hate the game.
