And I want one that won't die on me within the year Razz I also need software so I can make weekly backups of data.

Can anyone recommend me a good HDD to do the following :

Weekly backups of my data (I'm not sure what software I should use for this) , Storing large image files long term (bin/img etc..) so it must be reliable!

I want to avoid a Seagate drive if I can (based on experience)

It needs to be internal, And under 500GB (Too much data to loose if it dies)

250GB-320GB would do nice.

You seem very worried about your hard drives dying.

You installing them in your case with a hammer?

Personally it's kidna dumb to get a small drive cause you worry about losing all that data? So what about the 250+? Bigger doesn't mean more likely to fail, if your afraid to lose all that then you should be archiving to DVD's than lol. But anywho, as your requested....and reguardless what anyone says, Western Digital will always be the best. I've NEVER had them fail on me and I've got a 40, 2 80's a 160 and a 500 all in use. The 500 is only a year old but the rest are 2+ years and still running smooth.

Don't archive to DVDs, it's a painstaking, timeconsuming, and expensive process.

Buy yourself a BIG external hdd where you can backup everything to.

Well point made, I personally don't do it but it's really his only choice if he's worrying about a HD dieing on him
