You don'y know that.
No one knows for sure, but you'll probably get banned either way so prepare for the worst if your willing to take the risk.

What about if, for example, crackdown forces a check to see if the drive is hacked. if its detected, it stores this fact in memory. when you next go on live, the live servers pole this memory store to check. It's not rocket science. Everything is speculation anyway!

I'm not denying theres not more than one method. I.e the new spring dash might do it too. It's unlikely theres just one method of detection!

I was banned today.
I've never played a back up online only my originals. updated firmware prior to the spring update to ms28 5.3c. Since the spring update I'v only played forza demo and live arcade games.
My theory is that ms can detect a back up some how and we're not aware of it as yet. I think the bans a rolled out a bit at a time so I think all modded boxes will get it in the end. I think there something about this jitter detection that c4e and others have missed.

Yes but if the jitter thing is true, then they must also store something on your hard drive, because if you never played a backup while online, how would they detect it? Some guys are doing tests running consoles with no dvd drive to see if it still gets banned, that way they caan establish whether the hard drive stores data about what you have been playing.

Won't you get the E65 error when running without a dvd drive immediately when booting up the console? So can they test it?

Well after the 5.3x fluke, I must say I have my doubts if it can fix anything.

Dunno mate. Some guys that do modding have machines running. Some pther people have mentioned it as well, so I guess there is a way to get the machine running fine with no drive. No idea how though.
But so far the machine haven't been banned which suggest that the hard drive doesn't store anything. In which case it's more than likely they can detect firmware changes rather than backups.

So hear this. I start my xbox 360 to play halo 3, but it won't connect to live so of course I thought uh oh.
I check that everything is in place as it should be and indeed it is, I try to connect again but nothing. At that time, I thought for sure I got banned so I checked my internet connection, checked the error code but my z is still at 0000 - 0000. I found it weird as I couildn't for the life of me connect to live, but then I got an idea, I took the internet cable and with full force shove it up in xbox 360's ass and voila, it connected!
After all this, all I can do is laugh at everyone that got banned as I enjoy my halo 3 and Live.

I highly doubt that they are finished with the banning, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Firstly, you're a cocky cunt aren't you.
Secondly, this happened to me too. After the bans started, my live wouldnt connect - however i didnt have a code Z. I left it till the following morning and it was working again. Either way, i'm still not banned either.

I agree. The only reason I still like Live is to play coop with my friends. But regular multiplayer sucks, I'd take single player over it anyday.

I used to think like this too, that ii absolutely not needed Live.. but after spending quite some time with new friends i met over Live, i´ve kinda changed my mind.. Live is really awesome with the right company, better than singleplayer in many cases.
