It's cheating if you ask me, the guns at the start are supposed to be inaccurate. It's about the only thing that makes the game challenging - the time it takes to kill an opponent, if you can run around one-shotting everything with a starting pistol or AK the "fun" is going to be very short lived IMO.
Deal with it, you don't have to get that far into the game before you obtain more accurate and deadly weapons (TRS 301). And then the upgrade from that (GP 7? I think) the game becomes easy mode pretty much with guaranteed headshots.

Each to their own of course, this is a single player modification,but I think you're selling your game experience short by using it tbh.

OK, so you can Unpack the File(s) but doesnt do any good because you cant load them into any editor to edit say like Spawns or stuff... Sad... But, hopefully something will pop up sooner or later...he he...

j/k. I think to each his own. But better accuracy does not mean guaranteed head shots.
It just means you are more likely to hit something you aim at. Again how much more likely i will let you specify in my next version. Also, since recoil isn't reduced much, you still can't just hold down firing.

The point is that even the later weapons (i.e. a sniper rifles) are not nearly as accurate as any real life weapon counterpart with a half decent operator would be.
I mean not hitting a 1 m^3 box at 10 feet when aiming straight at it with a pistol!!!?
I remember my grandfather taking me to shoot some really old banged up lugger pistol where every 3 round would jam, and even with that i was hitting better at 100 feet then even the 'good' pistols in this game at 10!

For me that is annoying, for other that might be fun.
Who cares as long as you enjoy the game Razz

Those are from User.ltx but can also be used in the console, controls the visibility distance and the above values are the maximum the game supports, any higher and the game restores them to the default. Smile


Im playing on a 6800 with DX 8 so I lowered mine to :
r1_ssa_lod_a 28.
r1_ssa_lod_b 16.

And God Damn what a HUGE FPS I got... I did try it on 32, 24 and it also was good numbers, of course the Vision was down to around 60% BUT all in all the game goes extremely fast now, no slowdowns and such like before...Now its playable... Smile...

Could also try these two commands together to improve the lightning but I can't maintain playable framerate with them so beware if you have low/mid end hardware.

r2_allow_r1_lights on
r2_gi on

And this controls specular mapping
r2_gloss_factor 1.5
(Goes from 0 wich is totally off to 10 wich is extremely shiny)

Sun and it's shadows
r2_sun on
r2_sun_details on
r2_sun_focus on

Faster but uglier bloom lightning
r2_ls_bloom_fast on
(A few sub commands to that as well not yet tested)

Texture sharpness
r2_tf_mipbias -3
r1_tf_mipbias -3
(Probably too sharp at that value)

Just run it, it will make a backup of the patched file.
If you get an error you need to download and install the .Net 2.0 Framework.

Ok i'm done =)

Download it from:
http://raven.is-a-geek.net/post/Stalker_ModTool.exe

It will allow you to mod many weapon stats for all weapons, such as:
Accuracy
Recoil
Damage
Ware
Clip Size
Fire Rate

Before you start, please make sure you either have
1.) an original (unmodded) gamedata.dba file in your installation directory
OR
2.) the original game gamedata.dba file named as gamedata.dba.org in your instllation dir.

and do not use the extracted raw files.

PatchFX was not working for me, the patch exe failed, maybe it was the size.
Anyhow, made my own patch executable with .Net 2.0, so you might need the .Net Framework, but at least this time it's just a small exe and not a par2 anymore Wink

What it does:
Accuracy 10x
Recoil 1/2
Damage 2x

It think the damage might be a little too much, please let me know what you think if you try it.
I can't use multiplayer directly as template since players are simply weaker (less health) then most AI characters.

Yes, simply rename it to:
gamedata.dba.org

and your set.

Btw, the numbers are a timestamp when the file was backed up, in format:
year month day hour minute second

thanks alot for your tool, raven. It's nice to be able to slightly tweak things.

As to the person calling it outright cheating.... I agree. But only if the game actually had you levelling up and increasing in skill.

Before this mod, I was half way up the map and firing as poorly and as weakly as I was in the beginning.

These sorts of modifications will most likely be added to the first patch for the game. To make it more enjoyable, without sacrificing the realism factor.

Cranking the bullet damage up to 10, would be cheating. Turning it up to 1.2 from 1, is making the bullet damage more realistic. Not many people can take a full AK clip, then return fire while strafe running.

This isn't like infinite ammo or energy. You can still die, but when you stick your sniper crosshairs over someones head.... you're going to hit them and that's good IMO.

The file with the numbers is your unmodified file. The one without is modified.

Does anyone get MOUSE LAG in this game?

I have 7800 GTX and 2Gb of RAM and my FPS are not THAT bad (30s) but with dynamic lights (full or object-only) I get terrible mouse delay/lag.

It used to be like that in Oblivion, but you could use RivaTuner and set PRE-RENDER limit to 0. That fixes Oblivion mouse lag. It does NOT fix STALKER mouse lag.

I can't aim like this. It takes like extra 2 seconds for the cursor to SWIM where it should be.

Oke i have a *cracked* dedicated stalker server running again!!
This is how to connect.
-Use the stalker MP 0.4B tool!.
-Only enter the server ip : 217.121.117.178 , and leave the rest as it is.
-When you connected DO NOT CLICK ON THE "NEXT" BUTTON!!, OR THE SERVER WILL CRASH!!, this is a bug in the tool!. just click on SPECTATOR and then space to start!, but once again do not click NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!.

Mod Toll updated, there was an error so fire distance was not set correctly.
Fixed now. Same link and file name, but hould say v3 when you start.

Yes, should be, try setting the hit_impulse to 400 using my mod tool.

Radiation, get the hell out of there or drink wodka/use anti-radiation shots.
Sometimes hidden stashes are located right behind a radioactive area..

If the barkeep has a mission in which you have to kill a stalker called Sparrow, accept it. You'll get a +106 endurance artifact(=infinite sprinting).
