Anyone know anything about the melee-combat in this game? Sorry for being lazy and all, but I can't be arsed to look it up.

Still downloading. So far the only people with negative comments on forums are ones with NO saints row on their gamertag but loads of crap like supershithead returns and needforshit carbon. Aka people who should have no opinion on the GTA-genre.

Well I know Nailbiter is playing this at the moment.

I was checking his profile on live and it said he was currently playing; "Crackdown...Singleplayer Campaign...Murdering innocent bystanders". So i'm sure he's having a good time. Very Happy

Give us your opinion! I'm currently downloading it at a snails pace, only 30%. Sad

Ive just tried this and Im not sure if I like the way you fire your weapon. When people shhot from a distance its hard to see exactly where they are and the zoom function isnt much use. Maybe Immissing something. Gears of War is far better for me.

Haha, yup did indeed try the demo today. One of the slowest downloads ever! Smile

Started off with the SUV and went pretty much the opposite way the game asked me to. Drove in to a building where there was suposedly a boss of some kind. Took the car and drove past all his henchmen and on the top floor he was. In old-fashioned GTA-style I ran him over till he was dead. Smile

After that i kept going for the agility points out in the amusement park (+ killing some innocents of course Smile) and tried to reach the top of the 3 tall towers on the island. Then the time was up.

Over all pretty fun. There doesnt seem to be too much of a story though and the ai is close to nothing. Driving is fun, but I think the missions will go boring fast. And I´m not sure what else there is to do, except foot- and drive races. And find all hidden thingamajjigys.

Wow, this demo is amazing. I was very sceptical at first. It didnt seem all that great. But omg, i was so wrong. I had a blast playing this demo from start to finish. I wish it lasted longer. Once i got a better jump i spent alot of time just exploring, climbing building etc.

And not really one framerate hickup, plays really nice.

I'm not too big on the targeted aiming system, I always feel like it takes away from it.. I'd much rather aim a crosshair myself.

Oh well...

Now, not actually having a 360, I can't for sure say how it actually feels in-game, anyone enlighten me on how it plays with the targeting system? Does it dull it down?

I think you can choose to lock on if you want to. Although personally I don't see the point when Saints Row's targeting system worked perfectly. There is no need for that lock on crap.

So Crackdown has free-aim? Lock-on sucks! Console developers should finally get rid of automatic targeting and lock-on systems!

It has totally free aim, like how a third person game would be on the PC, like Mafia.

Hopefully there is an option to turn it off in Crackdown, like in Lost Planet. The default aiming controls for Lost Planet, are sluggish, aim-assisted and the crosshair moves seperately from the viewpoint. It's quite counter intuitive. But you can change it in the options so it's totally free like a PC shooter. Some idiot reviewers even complained about it, obviously they never fiddled with the options.

There is free aim obviously, but its easier to lock on. Them enemies are shoting from very far away and it might be hard to hit them otherwise.

Might get easier when the shooting skills go up.

Isnt your dl done yet, AM, btw? Razz

edit:
About 5 minutes in, its shooting - agent skill

I can't use the internet on both my PC and the 360 at the same time, plus my download fucked up for some reason. I'm gonna try again overnight, so hopefully i'll be able to play it tomorrow. Smile

I love the Lost Planet controls! I can't understand how anyone can complain about the controls, imo they are absolutely perfect. I'm playing with aim assistance off (of course!), accelerate 5 and inverted up/down and it's great. Every console game with third-person shooting should have such smooth and precise controls!

I really like this game but theres one thing that ruins it's potential greatness for me and thats the unrealistic nature of the world. This really diminishes the impact of the super abilities for me. It's like the world would be totally boring and unimmersive if it wasn't for the super powers. I was hoping the powers would be the icing on he cake, not the main thing which makes the game fun to play.

Take something like Saints Row, the world in that feels far more real, not just in terms of graphics, but in the way it's presented. I imagine having super powers in that would have been awesome.
