i'm just replying to your posts, since you're so stubborn you won't accept the fact that getting an 8800 now was a bad idea. :] i have a 6800gt, and it runs games fine, including this one, so i could care less how old it is. at least it works with all games out now basically, which you can't say.

Quote: | How To Remove "Reload" and "Low Ammo" Messages - SP and MP
1) C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas\KellerGame\Localization\INT
2) Open the following file with notepad:
R6Hud.int
3) Find the following lines:
[HudPlayerArea]
Reload=RELOAD
LowAmmo=LOW AMMO
4) Delete "Reload" and "Low Ammo" entries (leave blank):
[HudPlayerArea]
Reload=
LowAmmo=
5) Save the file.
You can also delete the "ENEMIES REMAINING" line for Terrorist Hunt mode to get rid of this message. It will simply display the number of remaining terrorists on the right side of your screen.

How To Disable Post Processing Effects to Increase Performance
The post processing effects (HDR; Motion Blurr; Eye Adpatation) puts extra processing cycles on to your GPU. If you eliminate them this should speed up your frames per second minus the added visual effects.
WARNING: This may adversely affect the entire game, SP and MP, and you might not be able to re-apply the post processing effects. The only way to re-apply them may be a full re-install of the game.
PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK AND ONLY AS A LAST RESORT TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE.
1) C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas\Engine\Config
2) Find and open the file with Notepad:
BaseEngine.ini
3) Find the following line:
[Engine.RenderDevice]
bUsePostProcessEffects=True
4) Change from "True" to "False"
The game will look very basic (washed out). Thermal vision will become very blocky and consist of the basic colors of Red/Green/Blue. The Night Vision filter (green static) will also not function because it is a post processed effect.

Users MAY Not Need a Shader Model 3.0 Card
WARNING: This has not been tested.
Anyone who has a non-SM 3.0 card should edit the files below (after making backups) and see if the game starts up and what kind of performance and or in-game anomalies you encounter receive while playing.
WARNING: PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. ALWAYS BACK UP FILES BEFORE EDITING.
1) Find the following files:
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas\Engine\Config
BaseEngine.ini
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas\KellerGame\Config
DefaultEngine.ini
PCKellerEngine.ini
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas\KellerGame\Config\PC
DefaultEngine.ini
PCKellerEngine.ini
2) Find the following entry in all the files:
[D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice]
DisableShaderModel3=False
3) Change "False" to "True".
4) Save files and see if the game starts. Ideally, this should be done on a non-Shader Model 3.0 video card to confirm the game will start without using SM 3.0 if this parameter is active. |

If u got performance issues try this.
Open up the kellerengine.ini
And reduce the ShadowBufferResolution to something like 512
ShadowBufferResolution=512
Then i changed MaxShadowResolution to 512
it was 220 before.
Finally i lowered LevelOfAnisotropy to 2.
Now it's very playable for me,
My specs arent that high either.
P4 3ghz @ 3.30
Geforce 7800GS
1 Gig ram.
Let me know if it works for u guyz also.

i'm just replying to your posts, since you're so stubborn you won't accept the fact that getting an 8800 now was a bad idea. :] i have a 6800gt, and it runs games fine, including this one, so i could care less how old it is. at least it works with all games out now basically, which you can't say. |
your backside is wide open and sprouting bullshit. if iits poor on 8800 its even poorer on 6800gt. use your brain before typing rubbish. we arent trying to run the game on low res and low detail. and its not the 8800 that is at fault. this game isnt optimised for ANY gfx card.

yeah whatever.so is x1900 not supported either?it had the same sudden fps drops with that as well, just slower overall than 8800gtx. it maybe runs fine for you with your obviously low standards-well anyone that thinks 6800gt runs everything obviously runs low details and is happy with crap gfx. rest my case.
edit:also i didnt call you by any abusive names. dont be an internet hardman, isnt funny or smart or brave. |
i insult you guys because youre fucking idiots. read the game's readme. oh and i'm not playing it at low, and i still get very playable fps. tyvm.
also, to add another fact to the fucking idiots part, you bought new technology right when it came out.
e/ since "read the readme" is such a broad statement, and its SOOO hard to read it, let me copy and paste a little exert from said readme:
Code: |
* Supported Video Cards at Time of Release
ATI RADEON X1600/X1800/X1900
NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT/6800/7300/7600/7800/7900 |
am i getting through your thick skull now?

Calm down and stop acting like a retard, your entitled to your opinion but there is no need for name calling imo.
Anyway, as I said earlier the game worked quite good on my 7800 card, with everything (apart from resolution) on max. The graphics are actually pretty damn good, and even if it might be in some peoples eyes - the physics and amount of objects in some maps would still make it impressive.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Mike, you do know that 1024x768 with 15fps on high isn't all that high right? A slideshow isn't considered a smooth gameplay.

the dudes in the basement didn't even get a 8800 to play around in keller.
I second Mike, getting a 8800 is not a good choice.
I definitely would wait until June or July.
Thus the reason why I bought a standard video card (x1900xt) just to sit a wait for ATI to fix what NVIDIA didn't then release the better card.
Everyone knows they have been doing that for ages. NVIDIA releases a high end card but problems pop up. You wait a bit then ATI releases just about the same thing but it truly works.
keller is not badly optimized and it's a very good game. it is also the last game I got to play around with before leaving the studio.

HMzz i'm playing on a GF6800GT OC and ah amd 3500+ and 1GB of memory. My settings are resolution: 1280x960 shadows and blur on low/off and the rest on. I'm playing on about 20 FPS. It isnt a die hard FPS so the 20 is fine for me(and it is no slide show)!
When i set my options on the highest level then i got 10-15 and that is a little bit to low. But the difference between every thing on the highest and the settings i am using is not very high. The basix graphix are almost the same every time!

ppl WTF!
i told you not once!
for all securom games,first thing to do:
1.mount with latest daemon tools
2.start->run->regedit->hkey_local_machine->system->mounted_devices->rename_your_mounted_device(\dosdevices\G.l: or whatever you want).
no need for any loaders like asr or yasu AND no need for crack.runs like a charm

JUST FRACKING GIVE IT UP ALLREADY!
This thread is just spammed up with crap about FPS and the never ending story regarding the 8800. IT DON'T MATTER!...believe me. If your ok playing with your rig please DO!, if not GET NEW GEAR!. Take this discussion to the fracking tech section or something, or just go on MSN and rant. Never seen a more pointless discussion, and believe me I have seen some crap here on NFOrce.
