I know. I bet this game will be great tough.
But i think its redicolus that people whine about how "super-great" a game was, like Total War, but when talking to them they pretty much ONLY played the game with mods.
That isnt a great game, thats a great set of mods.
I just mean that sure the Total War games were really good, but when people whine on and on about how supergreat they were, they usually only played them with mods.
Thats the mods that are great, not the game itself
A good example is NWN2, everyone was expecting something super-amazing, i for one think it is a great game, but thats all it is.
And people even dare to claim that its worse than NWN. But the thing is that they compare NWN2 to NWN+mods+modules+persistant worlds. And almost everytime they talk about how great NWN was they mean mods and modules, NOT the game itself!
I just think its a bit funny, the thing ppl praise in a game is the mods, then when the sequel comes they bash it to death, for not containing any mods from the start lol.

Personally i actually played the original campaign about 10-12 times before I even tried with the RTR mod. I actually never occurred to me that there could be mods for it, found RTR in a forum and tried it out. Sure RTR is good but to tell you the truth i never really complained about the orig RTW.

lol dont worry it will be moddable im sure. So what if its in .pack files??
Its not like pack files have stopped other games from being modded (such as every single game with the quake or doom engine)
Very few games have their files just loose in the folder tree.

all total war games so far were moddable, medieval 2 is using an enhanced rome engine so it'll be at least as modable as rome.
and there were even small mods for the demo already, modifying armor and weapon setups of soldiers and stuff like that.

Lots of people already have it, so it should be out soon.
Let's hope.

Well, CA left the community hanging regarding modding tools for RTW, so I doubt we'll be seeing anything useful from them this time.

i do get it, alot of games use custom archives. its not the end of the world, it just means that ppl cant start modding from day 1, will take a few weeks.

ROFL, they said that the A.I. would be more strategical in this game, but the computer is still attacking cities without having enough support to take the stone walls down.
So some rounds of combat can still be waited out. =/

Yeah, the AI still leaves much to be desired. The Danish AI evacuated a fully stacked army from Oslo to attack my tiny mercenary army, even though 3 full stacks of my armies were standing practically right next to the city. Great decision there.
Now Oslo is German. Muahahhaha.
