Found this on the official forums posted by our Epsilon I assume? Very Happy

http://forum.jowood.com/showthread.php?t=124847

And if the servers are busy it says ...

On popular request heres a thread on ini optimization and the tricks i've been told by others and are now using myself.
all the magic happens in the ge3.ini file.

To get rid of the "soup"
DistanceHigh.fFarClippingPlane_High=15000.0
DistanceLow.fFarClippingPlaneLowPolyMesh_High=1500 00.0
remember to set to an equal value of fFarClippingPlane if your using Depth of Field
Render.DOFStart=15000.0
then add 3000 to Render.DOFEnd
Render.DOFEnd=18000.0

To get higher range on the vegatation rendering
VegetationAdmin.ViewRange=6500.0

Of course these values can be higher, but always equal to one another, as per this example. So experiment and see whats optimal for your system.

May the NFOrce be with you always.

Why does everyone think the US version will use Securom? I doubt it. It will be published by Aspyr and they already used Tages for Spellforce 2 and Paraworld, why should they choose something else now for a game that's already protected with Tages in the european version?

Spellforce 2 had Starforce 3 and they updated the protection with the 1.1 Patch. I used an external DVD-drive with the 1.2 Patch until the 1.2 Crack was released. Working like a charm now. ^^
Hopefully they use Starforce as it is easier to crack than Tages. Fucking french Wink

The US version of SF2 published by Aspyr uses Tages!

ahh damn it my first out of memory error there. been playing a total of about 6 hours of the past few days and thats the first time its happened. luck of the draw i guess unless increasing all the visual stuff has made it more likely???

gonna have a try with the cache to try to improve things.

Does anyone have a proper performance tweaking guide yet? Like what do all the slider bars do in the detail settings and what do all the options mean? I hate it when you have to restart the game for a change to take effect! Mad

if you have 2gb of ram you can set cache to
Cache.SizeImage=268000000
i've tried with 468000000 but got laggy, you can experiment with it though.

I read a lot of people on the official Gothic 3 forums are setting the Windows XP virtual memory to 2056mb. I might try that when I get home. The fact that a lot of people with high end systems are having performance issues suggests to me that the only thing any of us can really do is wait for another patch.

Here's two early screens I took using the console to increase distance.

1# - Before

1# - After

2# - Before

2# - After

I've spent some time going through the INI files since then but it's midnight in the game now so no screenshots yet. (FPS goes down fast with these though so be warned)

LOL @ this thread. I've never seen a game that had to be edited as much as this one through the .ini.

GG.

Same as the other Gothic games though those had this cool command you could use to remove view distance completely. (Rendering the whole gameworld visible)

Jesus I barely notice any difference. The draw distance you have looks plenty good enough to me!

Bad screens due to the sun glare, look at the cliffs near the upper falls.

Going to post some new ones soon, preparing to start a new game on the family computer.
(I really should upgrade my own machine but I'm waiting for DX10 and such)

EDIT:

Increased every setting I could find untill I got a memory error during the starting loadtime.

(Would still like to push it further but I can't)

I also found this cave in the vicinity.

(What were they doing?)

Does it really matter? AnimalMother told me I figured the DoF part out myself, as my graphics card can't render without, go figure.
Another tip to set the lod fadeout distance (where npcs fade out)

Camera.ZNear=60.0 should give you quite a nice distance.

Dont want to be a prick,.. But for me tweaking means trying to increase preformance with as little as possible loss in quality,..

Sometimes game need increasing quality with minimal performance loss, i.e. Oblivion.

I can't get the save game to work, it sais unknown date

Quote:
Now, if you cant start a new game (it just freezes for aprox 5 seconds), you need to fetch a savegame from the beginning of the game. Ive taken the liberty to make it available on my FTP server, however, its also linked to earlier in this thread... Download the files and place them in the following dir:
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\gothic3
(user should be replaced by your windows username)

FTP login Info
user: gothic
pass: save
add: utb-ftp.myftp.org
port: 21

Other download links:

http://rapidshare.de/files/36891083/G3_World_01_0004.g3sav

I have downloaded the two rapidshare files above and put them in the right folder...
Is there another file I need from this guys FTP? Cuz I dont know how to download that

PLEEEZZ help, i've waited so long for this game...
