Having such a good gameplay engine but then combining it with a crappy "career" mode is about the equivalent of taking the engine from a Ferrari and putting it into a Skoda Sad

Like I said; there are minor improvements. Also, how is it a crappy career mode when it's the best career mode you can get outside of Football Manager? That makes no sense. German league has not been removed either and in fact MORE teams have been licensed.

Master League can do with a facelift I agree but it isn't necessary.

Best career mode?

In Fifa I can manager a lower division team in England, compete in the league and FA cups each season, aim for promotion, buy and sell players, get promoted, eventually make my way into the premiership and aim for European glory, how can the master league in any way remotely compete with that?

i was a regular fifa user till decembre 04 Wink i liked it but never found it awesome. i play for one or two month then i get bored till next version
pes is not easy at the beginning, player are hard to control, but when youre beginnig to understand how it works, its fantastic Wink

i play a game everyday (5 or 6 stars) and never get bored, even when i loose Laughing
the only thing i dont like in pes is the interface : it should have been redone for the pc. we re not console users Wink
they re adding licenses every year, and transfer are not so accurate but theres a community who make it live Smile

you wont regret it Very Happy

Thats pretty much how I got into Pro Evo. When Pro Evo first came out on the PC I thought i'd give it a go, as like you, once you've played FIFA a few times it gets dull. Pro Evo I will have a game pretty much every day, and you never know how they are going to turn out, its different everytime. Its simply a fantastic recreation of football.

Yes.

Pro Evolution Soccer has the best career mode of any football game excluding of course the Football Manager series (which it wouldn't be fair to compare against).

Firstly, and I don't think this is mutually exclusive; it has the gameplay. That's important for enjoyment no doubt but it's also important for longevity that it has a nuanced engine that allows for depth and variance in matches. PES has this in abundance. No other football game can match it.

Quote:

Quote:
get promoted

Yes, it would be nice to have larger league structures (beyond first and second division). I can only imagine why we aren't allowed this yet but I maintain that it doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment, it is merely something I would like to see added.

Quote:
compete in the league and FA cups each season

It would be nice to have league competitions the way they are structured in real life (encompassing all divisions with seeding) but having league competitions as we do in PES (encompassing only that divisions particular teams) is more than adequate.

Quote:
buy and sell players

Why? What's the difference between one player and the other in FIFA that makes transfers at all beneficial? Oh and I don't know whether you've seen the transfer screens in PES but you can buy and sell there too Wink Smile

Quote:
aim for European glory

PES has copycat UEFA Cup and UEFA Champions League competitions. A few little bits of editing (name changes, champions league theme tune etc) and the European stage is there for the taking.

Quote:

By not competing. The master leagues flaws are in not providing for your every whim but if you stopped to look at what it does achieve you might realise it is more than the sum of it's parts unlike a certain other video game.

I understand you want more added, so do I, but to blast it the way you have is counter-productive. You won't find a better experience than the master league full stop. It is a solid framework backed up by the best footballing engine - it's a killer combination that can and will be improved in the next gen versions I am almost certain.

the graphics from WE9LE are just fine, way better than PES5... any improvements to that will be just ok, since graphics isnt the best this game has to offer.

For you in might be adequate, fair enough, however for me it gets boring playing it on 6* and winning the treble each season (or near enough), it gets boring very quickly playing against the same old teams over and over, the pseudo European competitions are quite basic and due to the lack of teams you face the same teams over and over and over. I'm happy you're happy, but you're the first person I've ever heard say the Master League is a decent career mode.

This is a problem with many games, particularly once you have mastered it. Football Manager series again have this problem. It can be alleviated somewhat by picking a weaker team and not buying up all the best players though. You will concede more goals in this new version btw, I should have mentioned it's the first PES/WE where the opposition AI has a FOCUSED and realistic attack. I've played previous WE side by side and it's very good how they have finally gotten an AI which is threatening to you (instead of just scoring flukey goals).

Quote:

Edit them yourself or download some patches. There is always full English league patches, Brazilian patches, Italian patches and so on that come out - particularly for the PC version which is much easier to edit.

Quote:

Do you watch European football at all? It's the same teams over and over in real life as well. You'd be forgiven for having a feeling of deja vu when you see Chelsea line up against Barcelona tonight. And it's not ALWAYS the same teams, it's just the strongest teams, something which does change in my games so I don't know why yours doesn't.

Yes it's basic, but it's a solid framework with no faults as such just shortcomings. As a whole it's the best experience you will have. I assume you play all your PES/WE games through the exhibition match screen?

Well I'm happy you're happy that I'm happy. I'm not the only person who thinks the Master League is the best career mode (I didn't say decent, I said; BEST), and like you I want to see it improved.

Yep. You can download a patch for the pc version that changes everything. Music, players stats/names, teams, kits, leagues. The game rulez.

You could have just spent half an hour editting the team and voila!

BTW Who cares about graphics on a game like this?? You want nice looking graphics, play fifa. You want to play real football? PLAY PES!

Funny you should say that, I thought PES5 graphics were better than FIFA06 especially after you use lodmixer to take advantage of the PC's capability Smile

If I did that I would had to make up the player stats... And there's something about that that doesn't fit Razz

That's an easy one. Just fill everything up with zeros for all the players!
That would make the team as bad as it is in real life.

Because they have all those shitty textures from the ps2 version, and that doesn't look good on higher resolutions. On "normal/shitty" tv maybe it works, but when you are close to the monitor it's just....bleh! Sad

Because if it has the next-gen engine, people with GFF5200 won't be able to play it well... And that is the source of money for them, morons (Ugh, sorry, "gamers"...) with old and shit graphics cards that have no idea in PCs...
I guess it's the same reason with Konami... If they put the better engine in, not as many people will be able to play it.
I call this kind of thinking the "EA Syndrome". Laughing
