Good game, played the singleplayer demo (Tutorial+Skirmish)
Had quite fun. Runs alot smother than the BETA demo for those wondering.

Its actually pretty hard this...setting on Normal or Hard. Basic tactic would be not to go for the fuel and stuff but the Victory locations or points. Build MS gunners fast and get them to hold untill you get better gear going. Once you secured the VLs your ready to start grabbing the other stuff. I am not saying this is the only way to win...but this is the way my 13 year old son have beaten the shit out of me like 4 times . Tried in MP and it does work, also works against the bots. Gona fiddle some more with tacticts and stuff but.

How can I enable the other skirmish maps from the beta in the single player?
I'm getting my ass handed to me by the CPU. I must suck big time!
I try to be meticulous and organised but it doesn't do me any good

HOW TO ADD MORE SKIRMISH MAPS INTO THE DEMO!
Quote: |
Okay, first off you need to have the MP BETA and the new SP demo.
Now go to were you installed CoH.
And find the folder which says Archives, its in this path.
C://Program Files/THQ/Company of Heroes Single Player Demo/WW2/Archives
Find the file that says WW2Data.sga and make a backup of it on your desktop, its the original for if you want to play the Campaign.
Now go to
C://Program Files/THQ/Company of Heroes(BETA)/WW2/Archives
And find that WW2Data.sga file and copy it.
Again, go back to
C://Program Files/THQ/Company of Heroes Single Player Demo/WW2/Archives
And paste.
Now start up the New Skirmish mode and you should have 3 more maps to play in. St Hilare has that Blue boxes bug though, and like Pyros said, the voices, on St Hilare mostly, dont work at times. But so far, Mc's War and Hill 331 work fine.
And if you want Campaign back, just take that backup you made and put it back in the original Single play demo folder.
Have fun, I definatly am! |
From http://www.forumplanet.com/planetcompanyofheroes
And I got beaten pretty hard by the AI at first too, but the key Is really to advance and capture most points early on. Then build from there.. You get better and better over time Thou I would like to have a option to limit the tank usage and a option to turn off ARTY strikes.
Edit, much much later :
Just done with a skirmish game on that 6p map you get after adding the MP (beta) file to the SP demo. I teamed up with one medium AI against a Hard AI. At first he totally kicked our ass, we where all the way back to our bases (He killed my HQ), and he had like 5-6 tanks inside our camp (and some fucking rocket stations right outside pumping us full with bombs), I only had 3 troops of rangers and some mortar-teams.
My AI buddy only seemed to have some enginers running around trying to capture some lost points. But anyway, we survived that massive attack and after about one hour we succeded to break out a little.
From that point on, we had the match in our hands again, and we pushed him back and finally kicked his ass. The game lasted 2 hours and 31 minutes. Great game!
Sig too big.

Yeah, thanks Spunk. I'll check it in a moment.
I've played through the campaign and it's quite good. The only niggling aspect is that it doesn't do anything new or better than previous games. I remember exactly the same kind of missions with more depth, length and so on in Sudden Strike for example. I also remember enjoying them more in that as well.
But it's not a bad game, and hopefully we can tweak it to a more realistic gameplay type.

Using the method of copying the WW2Data.sga from the MP Beta to the SP might couse some stuff to go nuts, like this.
Its not that bad but it does look a bit wierd
