Played now 5 hours straight with no crashes (burned, no alc., DT4 rmps enabled VDs = 0), the game is rocking my socks so far. having a blast letting the core golem punch the snot out of my enemies and piercing them from behind with my arrows. I know the combo is not uber but thats for fun. I had it with grinding for T2 items and uberpowersupercombos. This baby here is pure joy.

[edit - And the sounds AC97 onboard so this would rule out the crashes being AC97 related. At least theres one machine where tahts not applicable...]

How to get it to run without burning:

1) Mount .mds in DT4
2) Turn on RMPS emulation only
3) Use Pr0t.St0p to hide the virtual drive(s)
4) Titan Quest.exe -> Right click -> Properties -> Compatibility [x] Win98/ME [x] Disable Visual Themes [x] Turn off advanced text services for this program
5) asr.exe -> Titan Quest.exe

One or more steps might be unneeded, but I can't be arsed to figure that out now. It works for me, it may work for you, and that's what's important.

That's it. It runs flawlessly with this way.
Any other crap such as turning on/off emulation or hiding virtual drive is NOT needed.

You got that with DAEMON Tools too? It should work with pr0tst0p (Close it after Hide), and then ASR 1.2...

But, a new CureROM is on our way, so stay tuned for more Smile

Had the same when asr.exe was in a different folder when I tried running Titan Quest through asr.exe with a shortcut.

So it looked something like this:

Target: "D:\Program Files\AntiSecurom Loader\asr.exe" -r "E:\Games\Titan Quest\Titan Quest.exe"

To solve the problem set the work directory to the Titan Quest directory (at least this worked for me)

Work Directory: "E:\Games\Titan Quest"

This protection problem is really strange, I played the game for 3 hours straight with just asr.exe, then a crash, and since then it crashs about every 15 minutes, no real pattern here though...

Are you using multiprocessor configuration? In this case, please, edit file Settings\defaults.txt - forceSingleProcessorMode = true (also you must edit or delete file "My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest\Settings\options.txt". This solve most of problems.

Ok All I have managed to get the game running for an hour now without crashing.

You need to burn this one.

STEP 1

-Use latest alcohol 120%
-Open up the Image Burning wizard
-Choose the Titan Quest Image
-Tick to "ON" RMPS
-Leave everything else as is
-Press Start and Burn

STEP 2

-Uninstall Alcohol
-Right Click on the Daemon Tool tray Icon and choose "Disable Device" in Virtual CD/DVD Rom
-Tick to "ON" RMPS Emulation on the Daemon Tool tray Icon

STEP 3

-Install Game with the dvd you just burned
-Keep the disk into your Drive after Installation
-Start the game and Play
-Enjoy

Cheers!!

This doesn't work.

For the last 2 pages everything has been more or less repeated. What would be really interesting to find out, is if the retail version without a crack has as many problems as with the crack, or not.

The crash has nothing to do with asr.exe
It's just game's own problem. Only patch would solve it.

If that would be true, why does the game work when it's burned and why doesn't it with asr or prot stop?

It's the protection!

"Protection?" No. Mister Murphy. Let's play about 20 minutes and it's crash anyway (On my prescott. On AMD and Northwood game runs ok). Shame to testers! (Or it really protection system's shit... They killed the game with securom Smile

ok.. so.. i installed the game from DVD.. but won't run with the DT thing..
i took the mini-image.. inserted it into DT4.. prot-stoped the drive... ran through asr t.. NO CRASHES nada.. not one crash (except when you try to change the shadow detail when you are in-game). the only problem is that i get a lot of graphical BUGS.. like all screen black.. no character models.. black floor.. but they all correct themselves through FSAA ON OFF or VSYNC ON OFF.. i played for like 4 hours and didn't crash.. i am now level 9 assasin... and near the 4th city.. good game.. i like it a lot.. diablo to the max Very Happy..
