I just watched it, and while it was a good movie, I don't get it. So he just invented tyler?

pretty much. tyler was who he wished he could be, but couldn't bring himself to do and act the way he wished, so he, unaware, created an alternate identity, that he was aware of, but didn't know wasnt real.

sometimes he imagined tyler doing things, but most times he actually was tyler, his mind just percieved that he was simply WATCHING tyler do it.

pretty cool really, fincher is one of the best directors, and a real favourite of mine.

Also see A Beautiful Mind for more on this subject. It's like the main character had a mix of multiple personality disorder and imagined people who helped progess there life in a direction.

You kind of need to rewatch fight club a couple of times to really appreciate its greatness Smile

It's easily one of my favorite all time movies.

guy who presents it didnt take part though Sad ,i think he didnt like how people were only fighting to show off to the women. bet he would have owned them all though.

its a really cool program i you are intrested in martial arts the guy goes around visiting grand masters and showing you a little of there fighting techniques ,some of them are pretty rough on him Laughing

he physically shoot himself most likely to help mentally shoot and kill tyler -his mind would never be strong enough to simply 'mentally' destroy tyler, so he needs to use the gun (and shoot himself 'in the head' (cheek)) as a physical tool to help his mind kill off tyler... that was my understanding anyway.

i think that series is pretty good. he's had some right loons on it, the guy who hardens his bones by hitting himself a lot especially on the head, he'd be fun at parties. The best one i saw not so long ago on sky was some random with a sword who decided to show off on camera, he had a little chop at his arm and almost went through to the bone, he stood still for a sec then ran out of shot like a little kid, i haven't laughed that much in ages Very Happy

Watch unusual suspects when you're tripping out. Smile

You schould know that Fincher doesn't deserve too much credit for this. The movie is just a 1:1 adaption of the novel "Fight Club" by Chuck Palahniuk. The stye, the great/sick ideas and the dialogue was just copied from the book.
But it's good that Fincher didn't try to "soften" the movie and stood true to the hard and uncompromising novel.

Fincher did create a whole new ending, which the author of the book liked more than his own, so must receive some credit.
All his other movies are just as good, Se7en and The Game are awesome aswell Smile

I haven't read it, but you should know that it's nearly impossible to make a 1:1 adaption of a novel (i haven't seen one yet..).

If Fincher achieved that, it shows what an awsome Director he is.

btw.:
two examples known for an authentic adaption
(haven't read the books aswell -lazy me- Rolling Eyes )

id say thats somewhat unfair. any idiot can take a novel and make a film and completely f*ck it sideways. being able to take a novel, keep it faithful, get an awesome performance out of his cast, and shoot it so wondefullly well, deserves a heck of a lot of respect and credit.

but also, my statement was a pretty broad one, everything he has done has been amazing, even alien 3 (which was a disaster because of studio interferance, but his direction with what he had to work with, given it was his first film, was still outstanding)

should be noted that it's a miracle alien3 ever formed up to be even a half coherent film
it was rewritten several times while they were already filming
just watch the theaterical cut and the production cut and see for your selves
they're two completely different films
i can't imagine the strain he must have been under
it's like building a tower of cards in an earthquake

you, sir(me7), don't have a shitting clue of director's talent influence on the final product
just watch a few uwe boll films
