Street Fighters Ryu and Ken reunite when Chun-Li recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament. As they face a hidden conspiracy, they must confront each other and their past-or face destruction.
It seemed OK to me for the campy 'middle aged man' feels they are aiming for.
I feel it's trying a BIT hard on the 'member all the outlandish cartoon things they did? Like punch cars, flip upside down and float and spin kick? And thighs! 'member? Cammy and Chun's tights? They are there overly spotlighted too! AS we carried that over into live action.
While I think they nailed it. That doesn't mean they nailed something good. Just they did a good job replicating something that doesn't translate well.
Much like if they make the Naruto live action have Naruto 'Naruto running' into battle each time as a real person in a movie. The replication is spot on, but it looks cringey in that live medium.

Watched (most, skips some small parts) the cam. Its eh 6/10?
5 of that is pure 'best years of my life late teenager' nerd arcade/SNES nostalgia refusing to let it be less than 5.
Its...OK. Its got enough "ooohh.. I know that move!" moves in it. But too many are done as 'make sure its a scene highlight so the viewers don't miss it" and after the 5th or 6th one gets old. Just do the moves, we don't need a cinematic slow camera every time someone does a combo move the first time. Only things its missing to make it worse is a freeze frame with the moves name in graffiti in your face font.
And the mood/tone/base of the movie is torn between two foundations and not good at jumping between them.
Its gritty real life struggles of people and an attempt to make deep character traits to hook into, while also a campy, funny, over the top slap stick fighting game with punching cars, nut jokes, and WAY too much fan pandering over two womens thighs.
I get the reason. But come on, you can just show some thigh without writing whole parts around "damn dey thick" dialog...
So its meh. Was worth a pirate and the time to watch over dinner. Would not pay to see it.
It felt like they tried to make the outlandish, cartroonish, shallow, fun-in-a-bag universe SF2 was as a game. And add in deep character stories, characters you relate to as flawed humans and moral dilemmas . and 1/2 failed at both, because of the other.
