Yours's dumb, he couldn't even figure out, it was the lift that Knox's dad has built for Harwood. Elevators had been prohibited by the Pact, and were unknown to silo's residents.

I didn't like the ridiculous thin excuse given by the mad trillionaire as motivation for creating quite costly silos. Iranians, of all people, creating nanites cloud first, before Americans? Give me a break!
I didn't like the resolution of Orla Kent's murder, I didn't buy into Harwood's motivation for stealing the critical bulbs.

I still love the series, don't get me wrong.

I just think this entire convoluted plot of silo book series and TV series is an afterthought of Hugh Howey's simple idea: what if I take YA City of Ember series and add a twist, that the outside is still toxic (unlike City of Ember's outside which healed), and helmet's inner screens are rigged to show healthy nature, while a single camera outside the silo shows the truth. The 'cleaning' of the silo's camera thus become a crucial plot device. That's it, that's what it was in the beginning. After the relative success of this short story Hugh Howey had to expand this simplistic story into ever so more complicated and less and less believable universe of silos.

The Iran angle is explored and explained in the book. They don't have the tech first, US and Israel are the first to actually develop and use it, and Iran throws a nuclear weapon in Israel to try and stop it, but eventually Iran also advances and eventually has it, and that's the dilemma the "founders" find themselves in; they fear that even if the Iran nanos are destroyed, the "cat is out of the bag", and all it takes is a mad man to just push a button and trigger a worldwide superpandemic that cascades to annihilation. The show's introduction now feels unearned and the gravitas of the situation is not well delivered. Book 2's structure is two timelines that progress into an eventual collapse, but the "founder" timeline builds the story over quite a long time. Here, they introduced the woman genderswapped Thurman in one episode, then simple Jack Colin Hanks is the scary but charming money, and then they even make the woman Thurman with no agency of her own ("I'm just a believer" Rolling Eyes), when the whole plan in the book, the real "pact", is Thurman and two more who try to solve the dilemma.

While I find the plan they had in the book is ultimately not well thought out and is why it fails, the dilemma is actually very interesting and the solution isn't as bad as instinct pushes.

I don't understand why the show is attempting to oversimplify a premise that is already quite simple but nuanced.

The whole Per Stensen lunch and dinner conversations are extremely poorly written. They flew out Daniel and Helen for that?

s1 writing and world building were very solid.
s2 writing was poor
s3 writing is uneven. There are some good episodes, but then there is turd like this.

Also, I hate when characters in a show are not competent and act emotionally. Sadly Silo has many such characters.

I have just watched the agency (both seasons), and it was such a breath of fresh air, that you had actual competent people in it (playing on all sides). Silo in comparison has teenagers.
