Quote:
Elon Musk has said his AI platform Grok Imagine will make a “historically accurate” adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey, after the success of Christopher Nolan’s blockbusting treatment which the SpaceX founder has regularly criticised over its casting.

In a post on X, Musk said: “Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer.” Musk also linked to a post containing a three-minute clip of footage that the user said had been generated from Grok Imagine, showing a scene between Odysseus and the nymph Calypso.

All this was because of the stupid Mel Gibson meme. AI is not yet ready to make good enough feature length films, but at the current rate of progress we should be there in about 1,5 years.

Besides there is already a shitty Mockbuster version by Asylum:

Btw. what happened to that Snow White movie by Daily Wire with "traditional values"? Did it ever come out after that crappy low budget trailer? I don't think so. It's just theatrics, how about they concede that they lost that little part of the culture war. Regarding the Drinker, I actually trust him to be able to give a balanced review of the movie. He's not as deep in the rabbit hole as some other anti woke critics. Guess we'll see.

I don't quite recall where exactly he said it, maybe it was a drinkers chasers or whatever it is called, where they discussed how profitable the movie will probably be. They kind of all agreed it would be a success financially.
Don't bother, it's easier for some to convince themselves that anyone they hate REALLY said that the movie was going to flop... even when that didn't happen at all. Closest I remember is the CD video a few pages back where he was implying that a few more dislikes than usual on the latest trailer might not be a good sign for the movie.
Which was stupid IMO, but still a far cry from outright saying it's going to flop.

So, it's only relevant if these influencers said the movie will flop? They said a lot of shit just to generate outrage and clicks, even if they didn't say the movie will flop (many actually did, but the goalpost for this movie kept moving all the time). Reducing the criticism of these assholes to flop or no flop is disingenuous from you.

I'll leave this here:

And you'll just leave this (another grifter deconstructing a video from the grifter you don't like), here? Does the thought that he *also* is trying to generate clicks from that video cross your mind, at all?
And if you want to talk about moving posts, I'm still waiting for "peep u l" to post exactly which hateful utubers outright stated that this movie was going to flop, and I'll die here in this ikea office chair waiting at this point.

I can live with this list, personally. Perhaps TDK and Batman Begins are a couple of places too high.

I suspect the intent of the makers: Free publicity. Nothing sells a movie like people that wasn't its direct target hating on it, to make those that might be defend it. Ticket sales go brrrrr.

I personally don't think the casting was a DEI hire. It was a DEI exploiting publicity machine knowing it would cause discourse. Exploit the loudest, to get the opposite loud too. Those that agree/don't care about the casting dont make as much noise alone, to get eyes.

I'm +1 now that knows about it. I would not know the movie was even made. I don't watch movies. But now after all the "WTF are they on about all over the internet" I know about it, know about its open weekend sales, what people on all sides think about it.
Again, nothing brings attention like unpaid for advertising.

@LeoNatan
Homer's Odyssey isn't historical events.

Odysseus wasn't real, much less a real king. Helen of Troy came from an egg after Zeus banged Leda, while looking like a swan. I could be wrong, but I suspect that isn't historically accurate. And Helen wasn't a real person that ever existed.
And cyclops..and all that.
Even the Trojan war it talks about isn't historically accurate. Just that the war's name is real.

It's like saying Wolfenstein is historically accurate because WWII happened. Or Captain America was an actual person, for the same reason.

Can't argue there.
We haven't had a president since I was born I would happily apply any of those 3 to. Well maybe legacy, but not as a compliment to them. More as a: They had a lasting impact, and it sucks in some degree or form.

There's a prevalent Western leftys' mindset, that only men can be predators (not women) and blacks can never be accused of racism, 'cause historically these two categories have been on receiving end of oppression for too many times.

And water is wet, I know.

Haven't the Brits been already humiliated by the shows where black actors play historic white figures? :
Anne Boleyn (2021)
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023)
My Lady Jane (2024)

So the phenomenon of race swapping is not exclusively about fiction.

If that was at me, I agree. I was saying in this specific one I personally feel it was. Not that all of them are.

My take on it is It wasnt a real person, and not even a fictional real 'person': I have no idea exactly what race a daughter born of a god roleplaying a swan to shag another god, and hatched from an egg, should be. Nor do I care.

And not only that Homer never gives Helen a physical description in the Iliad or Odyssey. And left it open to the reader to envision what they consider beauty using terms like: long robed, lovely haired, fair cheeked (fair = marks high class beauty, not light skinned), brilliant among women, and such.

She could have been smooth green skin with gills and long bright orange hair, if some reader finds that alluring.

It's fine, no historical figures have been insulted in the making of this movie.

In fact, most complaints are absolutely stupid and come from people that know nothing about the source material or can't remember shit about it.

I've read a lot of complaints regarding the trojan horse. Apparently, the movie Troy is quite the reference now. Guess what, the horse from the movie Troy is not "historically accurate". Funny thing about Troy being used as a reference because I remember that when Troy was released, everyone was upset that it wasn't all that close to the source material. An example would be Achilles which, the great hero of Greece, not being gay or at least bi. There are no gods in the movie (they play a huge role in the Iliad), some important aspects are cut from the movie and many sequences are not even in order. The movie Troy has quite the political statement to make about imperialism, but the "right" has failed to pick up on that I guess.
