So if just to fix that one, perhaps stay with the older version Laughing

I’m on PS5.
I have no console commands and I don’t think I can go back to the previous update :/

For what it's worth, it's not a crime to use (sparingly) the fast travel script on Nexus alongside the teleport runes when dealing with the game's back 'n' forth with no encounters in between. I'm still doing the second chapter (while waiting for more patches), but when I replayed the original game back in 2024 I remember that the uber-sprint mod felt pretty handy later on, making the backtracking less annoying.

..unless one is playing on console, in which case suffering is part of the core experience Cool Face

Finished!
Final boss sucked, but looking forward to the remake of nr 2. Really happy with this remake, even despite all the bugs which tells something

The numbers don't decide, the system is a lie. The river running dry, the wings of butterflies.
And you may pour us away like soup. Like we're pretty broken flowers.
We'll take back what is ours. One day at a time.

Amazing game, 10/10.

Nothing beats that Gothic atmosphere. Climbing down to fight minecrawlers, great map and story. Orc temple did suck.

Would replay as a mage.

Playing as a mage is amazing, would replay again (without the crashes).

Cleaned the old camp, Gomez didn't even fight. The death to the undead rune, ball of lighting rune, ice rune, great fun, fireball rune not bad.

Underwater tower is a must.

After some months spent patientbearing I finally decided to finish the ride through the rejuvenated Valley of Mines (third time since 2001), honestly an effort that is as good as it gets considering the limited budget and omnipresent Angina tax. Against all odds, the nuNameless Hero did not flounder

Very faithful to the original, yet feeling fresh thanks to the new/extended dialogues and various adjustments both gameplay and story wise - whilst improving the combat and keeping the charming jank, rewarding progression, challenging world and immersive atmosphere intact. The late chapters and final boss fight were (once again) on the flaccid side, the new lockpicking system was frankly a mistake (fixed by mods), and the silly engine itself will always be a burden, but I didn't encounter any major issues and overall, I have little to complain about here which does feel a bit awkward.

As I mentioned before, it truly is quite telling when a framework that is ~25 years old provides a more captivating and consistent open-world experience than most of its modern p̶e̶a̶r̶s peers. 8 swampweed rolls/10, hoping the inevitable Gothic 2 comes along as well.

WDYM? The Sleeper fight is generally considered a peak ending.. It's a sleeper demon who controls people via dreams, and you don't fight it directly but have to conquer the nightmares he puts you in. I was frustrated by the bugs, but rhe fight itself was amazeballs.

I actually appreciated the idea of making the encounter more meaningful and personal, as the original was very dry in that regard Razz - I just found its execution a bit gimmicky/forced and not particularly rewarding in terms of mechanics used. Then again, boss fights in PB games are traditionally more of a side dish than anything else.
