Played an hour on PS5 Pro.
Apparently PS5 Pro has issues and graphics settings are locked to enhanced and is presumably forcing PSSR.
Having said that, it looks and runs great and I’ve not had any problems.
The game itself is good so far although I’ve barely played it TBH after doing the first hour.
I think there are similarities to the Silent Hill 2 remake only it’s set in 1960’s Japan lol.
I went straight in on the hard difficulty after seeing there was only ‘story’ or ‘hard’ available.
I do like some challenge so decided against story mode but hopefully don’t regret that lol.
I’ve run into the first enemy type but have no weapons yet so can only dodge them.
I’ll have more to say later after work though
At first glance the performance seems top notch, but when you dive more into the game you get random drops to 30/40 fps. This is with a 9800x3d and a 5090. Absolutely laughable.
Is there something wrong with the Silent.Hill.f.Deluxe.Edition.MULTi13-ElAmigos release? When i click on shf.exe or SHf-Win64-Shipping.exe its crashing to desktop.
The game is certainly a ghetto soulslike. It emulates the control scheme and you have dodging, perfect dodging, parries, limited run stamina with enemies chasing etc. and im sure it'll be more and more apparent as the story progresses. But it is ghetto in the truest sense of the word as its way less refined and actually feels terrible compared to other games with similar control schemes.

Runs better than SH2, although, still not the best optimization.
The combat is trash. I mean, I get it. It's intentionally trash, but kind of why even bother with it?
It's hard for me to judge it so far as a game, partially cause I don't find horror games scary in general and they aren't my cup of tea, and partially cause I haven't played it enough yet, being only a few hours in.
But the combat is just putting me off really hard. I guess I'll see how running around more works, but there are mandatory fights.
I don't like the journal. Not that it's present, but the way it is presented, like she's writing it as she goes. It just feels stupid. Should be just a gameplay thing and not have it so personal, as if written by the character, or just have it be part of the game more. Just feels lazy like this.
Character deaths before you have a reason to care... I feel like they could do more with that, make it more impactful when they actually go. Spend some actual time with them, but whatever...
I kind of regret putting it on hard instead of story, since I really don't like the combat.

yea, which is why they recommend story mode cuz theres not much to the combat and on hard it just makes it even more tedious but still it makes the game kinda boring to play
also running around feels like a constant maze, many little paths that take u to a dead end
is it worth buying if i loved SH2 and 3 (OG games) ?
Very different game tbh, atmosphere is closer to fatal frame imho especially 2.
I really like Ryukishi07's writing style and he never disappoints this game is no exception i still have not seen everything but so far the story is pretty great and i like the characters, puzzles are also pretty nice.
Combat i just set to story and i feel it's ok a bit more technical then older games and the stamina system can get annoying but after i got the hang of it i kinda liked it. I mean let's face it SH never really had very good combat especially not melee combat. Well at least the original games i've never played Homecoming or Downpour so i can't comment on those.
SH2 Remake is probably the best game in this regard since Bloober actually knows how to handle action combat.
I got Fatal Frame vibes but that’s probably because of the Japanese school girls
Well nah not really i mean while all of the female Fatal Frame protagonists are on the younger side (17-25 mostly from what i remember) as usual for Japanese games none are portrayed as actual schoolgirls (outside of of the usual optional cosmetics ofc) like the 14yo girl in this game. It's more about the religious and cultural aspect of the story and i don't really want to spoiler anything tbh.
Honestly, I don't feel like story difficulty does much to address the problems with the combat. Most of what it does is make you take a whole lot less damage, which was never an issue, as in most encounters it's fairly trivial to take little/no damage because of the very generous parry/reposte timing. I don't feel like there's a significant change in how much damage you do... I don't know.
It's fine so far. Although it does feel like... too much repetition, particularly in the unconscious/dream world thing with the fox mask. Especially the end seems to be the exact same, and tedious section, that doesn't really achieve what I imagine they had in mind. There's pretty much no tension, as nothing can actually catch up to you, but the constant interrupts are frustrating.
I really don't like the item limit. Would be nice to at least have a box or whatever to leave them at the shrine like in other games. I don't know. It just rarely feels like an actual choice of what to carry, and more making me open the map to rush to the nearest shrine and sacrifice something to make space. Most of this stuff is kind of irrelevant anyway.
Not a big fan of the story railroad so far. All these hints and messages of "don't trust x or y" but you can't really do anything about it, it just resolves in a cutscene always. At least so far. Hopefully it builds up to something and you can actually make a choice at some point, but I'm not expecting much at this point.
