Terminals give various background bits and pieces and stuff like popular literacy and theology and all sorts of stuff though on occasion you will also be communicating with a AI unit and well... anyway in my case that stuff resulted in a "bit" of hostility due to me intentionally being dumb about some of that stuff. Razz
(The semi-hidden QR codes or what they're called also give some more game related info instead of wall of text literature.)

As for backtracking some areas do need new tools for you to be able to access all the puzzle/tetris pieces and there's the hidden star collectible too which further unlocks access to other areas in the main hub complex.

Once you get done with the initial parts and can travel to more remote areas you'll probably be walking back and forth a number of times as the number of available rooms and such increases. Smile

This is a spoiler.

I almost cleared "A". While I think it's fun, I don't understand how this got raving reviews. Most puzzles are very easy and the design is repetitive and basic. The story seems to be predictable, but I hope I'll be surprised by some twists later on.

Puzzles will definitely get trickier - the more complex "replay" ones can really mess with your head if you play for too long Very Happy.

As for the story, you can get a fairly good understanding of where it is headed early on, so the broad strokes of it won't surprise you that much in the end. It's there mostly to get you to think on some things, although even that probably won't be an eye-opening experience - all too familiar arguments and examples. Still, I thought it was pretty well executed and I enjoyed it none the less Smile

I love how the game eventually makes you understand why you solve the puzzles, why the puzzles are so basic and how it fits into the story. There is no audio log that tells it explicitly, but as you ascend the forbidden tower to just realise "why".

I like how the story is told, but it's clearly a rehash of older ideas. I hope to see this kind of story telling in other games. I like the game, but I expected something much more based on reviews. I wouldn't rate this more than 7.5 atm.

New non-beta update.
http://steamcommunity.com/app/257510/discussions/0/359543951732363828/

Quote:

New features:
- Added Czech and Turkish localization for Road To Gehenna.
- Added support for the latest ATI and NVidia cards.

Bug fixes:
- Fixed an issue where Alienware LightFX keyboards would remain lit as if game was still running even after closing it.
- GI Solver will now run on D3D11 (used by Editor when baking level lighting).
- Improved stability and performance on Vulkan API.
- Fixed various small and rare visual artifacts.

And also a new beta update now that the previous one is out on stable.
http://steamcommunity.com/app/257510/discussions/0/359543951732368168/

Just improves Vulkan performance a bit further, still not quite there yet but slowly improving. Smile

Well, there's only 2 possibilities here:

1. You're an extremely intelligent person, genius level, and you solve every puzzle, no matter how complex in 2-3 minutes at most.

2. You're just plain trolling.

Cool

You really think I have to be a genius to solve these puzzles? Apart from some star puzzles, it's all relatively easy. What does time have to do with it? Solving a puzzle in 10 minutes instead of 5, makes it more fun?
Being easy does not particularly make it boring, it's the simple design of it all. The way the story is told through the terminals is pretty cool, as I said earlier, but the rest is basic.

Did you collect most of the stars so far?
There is an important aspect of the game that you don't have to deal with until you tackle the tower and the stars, the one game design/storytelling trick that makes the game memorable for me.

Ok, now I know you're not a genius when apparently you can't properly read Laughing

Never said the puzzles were unsolvable, I did them all with no help, and yeah, no genius here either.

So I guess option 2 it is!

I have the person ignored you are respondig to, but i bet i know what kind of troll post it was anyways. Laughing

To him the puzzles obviously were very challenging. grinhurt

BTW, you should do the same and ignore him. He is very sensible and gets angry pretty fast if you don't like a game he idolizes.

The part where I was commenting on the time required to solve the puzzles. If you solve even the hardest ones in 2 minutes, of course you're going to be bored quickly.

And no, the puzzles are not repetitive Wink

As I said in my edit, what influence has the time to solve a puzzle have on it being repetitive/boring or not?

I disagree with your third sentence. Let's leave it at that.

Just use a brain a bit, lack of challenge usually translates to boredom.

And yeah, I agree, lets's just leave it a that, I just think it was all a problem of poor choice of words Wink

Ah OK. Since your theory is that only a lack of challenge leads to boredom, and this game bored me, I must actually be a genius. I'm glad we cleared that up.

You're the one coming up with that brilliant theory, out of nowhere since I never mentioned how long it took me to solve the puzzles (maybe I've been running around for hours), and I agree that according to your theory I am a genius.
I will test your proposed "more time to solve = more fun" by prolonging my time to solve a puzzle (maybe walk slower ingame?). I'll keep you updated.

Yep, not a theory, more challenge = more fun. But that shouldn't be taken to the opposite extreme either. Too much challenge can become frustrating which wouldn't be fun anymore Wink

The latest beta update added PCF shadow filtering. Smile

Also work continues on the Vulkan implementation which seems to be catching up nicely to D3D11 now but support varies between Intel, Nvidia and AMD GPU's so there's still some work remaining.

Damn, i this is not as good as i thought. I through the world was supposed to be a puzzle in games like this, but it's just a hubworld with 5000 000 fucking levels. Is that supposed to be fun? Let me tell you, it's not. It's not interesting at all and it will be dead boring before i do 3 rooms wtih 5 or 6 levels in it.

Playing this also on the SD after hearing a lot of praise. It's not a masterpiece by any means, nor are the puzzles particularly complicated, but I wouldn't call it repetitive either. The mechanics are simple and just a few, but they're exploited sometimes in a very original way.

I'm half way through it (done with A and B, 3rd tower level), I'm not expecting much more from it and not planing to do the star / messenger levels...it's OK for short sessions imo

The game has two layers to it, the regular puzzles and the star puzzles. This distinction and how it ties to the game's narrative is what peple praise about the game. If you don't enjoy the star puzzles, the game just isn't for you.
