Ok. Calculated the correct new users to EGS from all these 38 games above. Almost 5 million from the total of 104 million claims. So if 7% from those 5 millions (almost 350 000) have spent average of $10, that means Epic got $3.5 millions from them at the very least. To get even with the money Epic payed for the free games, then each of those 350 000 had to spend average of $33 which is possible. Most likely tho they spend much more with multiple games and DLC purchases.
To summarize - even if only 7% from the new users spend money EPIC potentially still made profit. Even if this is old data and there are more than 150 other free games since then.

Are they still pushing transaction fees on the customer instead of covering them like Valve does?

funny how steam is lazy while trying:
steam box, steam controller, steam link,steam index vr thingy
on the client side:
linux support, steam link streaming software, remoteplay, family share etc.
prolly would come up with much more if id think about it.
what did uplay, epic,origin and msstore do, oh right they dont even have a good search function or categorization and some of em are busy with fighting the good fight (lootboxes, suing a apple for a higher share etc.)
sure valve dropped the ball in regards of their games but dont forget that epic was/is a game dev too. they shat on their old fanchises UT etc. and are only doing fortnite.
epic isnt the good guy as you see from the shown leaked documents.

the cut means jackshit ... thats just PR line for developers ... wont change a single thing for us customers
Just look how jurnous are going all in alongside the epic marketing about the "cut thing" .... while not a single one of those mentions that keys are free to generate on steam. (which is ultimately what allows all them GMGs, Humbles, Voidus to thrive and offer smaller prices)

Epic is suddently fine with 30% rate because the console companies highlighte the game, which is a big revenue driver.

Steam used to give free keys to devs without question but 3-4 years ago they made a limit of 1000 keys because some scum devs were cutting Valve and selling their games on their own sites. Now, if you are a dev and want more than 1k keys, you have to make a request via the Dev Portal to Steam Support. They may still give 10-20 keys without question but for a bigger batch they will ask you why. Which is why Humble and those other sites don't have those awesome bundles from the "Golden Age of Bundles" and mostly have older games.
Now about Epic I am not sure what's their system but just recently the devs of the game Scavengers made a big "giveaway" where they gave a code to anyone who watched a Twitch stream of the game for 30 mins. Those codes were all redeemed on EGS and probably a total tens of thousands were given. And some sites sell Epic keys too.

It is all just juggling numbers around. If you re-arrange said numbers they look new and different. But in the end, customer still pays for everything because he is a dumb sheep.
