it's just a minority. people were liked that when steam got released and still these days you can find some people on forums, which still hold on to only disk games and cry about steam. so they never fully go away, but the crying and bitching will get less and less over time. just ignore it

i would argue against that. even origin to this day isnt that established.
if not for their whale trap games ea would be in a bad place right now.
besides the fact that the greediest company a.k.a. ea did come back crawling to steam. if origin was that succesfull after all these years they wouldnt need steam or an ea origin pass.
if not for fortnite what does egs actually offer?
how many games did you freiwald or dalexy really buy from egs?(compare that number to the games you bought on steam if you even did buy any from egs..)

i don't play that much anymore. last year i bought resident evil 3 on steam and tony hawk on epic. i don't care anymore if the game is on steam, epic, uplay, origin, or anything else.
if i still would use steam for chatting and friends and maybe even collecting games, then sure i would be pissed, but only cause i would know that i can't have it on mostly one platform anymore, cause epic won't give up and things are changing. other then that i see no reason to be pissed. i don't care who will get my data, cause one of them is getting it anyway if i want to buy and play a game.

i'm perfectly happy to get games for free of course, but this is a short term strategy at best, and entirely at the expense of the value of gaming itself.
last thing i want to see happen is games devaluing until we are all playing mobile games because everyone just wants free/gaas games. epic are throwing gaming under a bus to 'compete' with steam, and i'm glad to see it is burning a small hole in their pocket if nothing else.

yay im now an attorney
but dont act like steam is all good guys, steam is the reason gameprices in stead of dropping by 40-50% due to no shipping and retail costs, stayed the same while they pocketed the entire savings that was supposed to go to gamers for giving up their rights of ownership and full retail gameboxes and manuals
the fact bandwith now costs 1/1000 of what it cost twenty years ago , makes steam even worse atm still taking a 30% cut, and now obviously they say , its the price to pay for reaching their store audience
but what they did with their billions, is unforgiveble ... they just sat on it and didnt do anything good with it these last 10 years almost ... sure they tried some stuff , but just look how they just dumped their cardgame ... zero honor, pure bottem line company
very glad epic is stealing marketshare from lazy valve
