You can skip the cut scenes after you start a new game. The initial long and boring prerendered FMV cannot be skipped. Which is why I wondered why they didn't put the "optimizing" nonsense to run concurrent with the FMV.

Right, I saw some fantards on Reddit saying how gratefruit PC gaemrz need to be, because Guerrilla decided to fix the game!!111 and not leave it to the porting house to fix!!1111 Soe amazomg
They probably terminated the contract with the porting house to save money, and suddenly discover all the crashes and bugs so now they have to do it themselves out of necessity.

Would the original studio do a better job, since they never did anything for PC in the past? No idea how porting a game works.

They developed it for PS4, which means they already have x86-64 for most of the engine. The Sony GPU APIs are different, but not significantly different from DX12 or Vulkan. Let me give you the big secret why porting houses are used, rather than original developers touching their own code to make it for PC: porting houses pay much cheaper than first-party development houses, so the entire porting process, hard or easy, is much cheaper to offload to a porting house rather than doing it internally. Don't let any PR nonsense person tell you "oh they have much more experience with teh PC"; it's complete bullshit, especially in modern day and age of this console generation. Part of the cost saving with offloading to a porting house is the significantly smaller QA pool to test on PC.

Ok well looks like 60 fps is definitely out of the question for a 980 TI but that was kinda to be expected. I can get 40-55 fps most of the time with the Digital Foundry settings but it's definitely too annoying to play that way and considering all the animation and physic bugs over 30 fps i think will just lock it at 30 and be done with it this also gives a bit of room for higher settings or downsampling. Specialk does practically nothing from what i can see other then crashing the game in fullscreen mode.
Edit Ok Specialk does work and with Kaldaien's settings it's practically stutter free at 30 fps like the PS4 version.

That means it's a different EXE rendering the FMV.

Why do the mods put "early access" on these threads?
Same thing with RDR2.
It's like they get butt hurt that the game doesn't run perfectly on their rig and change the title of the thread for everyone to see.

What game has a good climbing system? It's pretty much the same as in AC. And Tomb Raider wasn't much different either. Can't think of any other game with climbing.
Did TW3 have climbing?

When in doubt, whatabout.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

It really isn't. From what i recall you can not climb every wall, this is more similar to TW3 or whatever else open world, you can climb (or jump up) in a few places but not everywhere.
In the new AC i think the climbing is a little bit too easy. It's so smooth that any obstacle is just something to slow you down slightly. It has a nice but also very braindead flow to it, quite similar to its combat. The only other game i know with similar climbing is the new Zelda, it was a much talked about feature when it was new.
I do prefer it to games where climbing is more or less just jumping, it's quite silly.

But we can agree, that climbing really isn't what makes or breaks a game, right? ^^

It's something which is nice to have in open world games. it's just another thing that spoils you.. it's a bit like diving and swimming, not all open world games has it, i personally miss it quite a bit if its not there.

Who says it does in this case? Although the fact you can't climb all the ledges that you fail to jump on because you lack a few cm is weak.

Some players are experiencing performance issues on specific GPUs or hardware combinations.
We're aware of and continue to investigate all issues in this list on Reddit as well. Thank you to u/EvilMonkeySlayer for compiling this for us.
PATCH NOTES
Crash/Hang Fixes:
Fixed an issue where the game would crash if the SteamUI didn’t initialize properly on startup.
Functionality Issue Fixes:
Fixed an issue where Concentration and other slowdown mechanics wouldn’t work for everyone.
Fixed an issue where Windows/Steam profile names containing special characters would prevent some players from saving the game. We are still investigating other saved game issues as well.
Fixed an issue where Windows/Steam profile names containing special characters would prevent some players from saving screenshots in Photo Mode.
Other Fixes:
Added improved diagnostic data collection when submitting a crash report.
Fixed several backend issues.
Fixed a video corruption issue for specific hardware. We’re continuing to look at other hardware configurations as well. |

First crash after a long playthrough, I made it to meridia or whatever they call it, this is finally where the game starts being a little bit more interesting. Also its influences start showing and the witcher is one of them even one merchant in the city looks exactly like the round glasses one in the witcher, they even hired the witcher's voice actor to do pedestrian NPC voices which was surprising and very weird.
The world is very well artistically designed and looks incredible at parts. And what's up with the face mocap also getting better around meridian? It's very inconsistent.
Weird game that borrows a lot but has a world worth wasting time in. The combat also gets more engaging later on as new machines show up.
