I dont like these kind of bans because I think people/parents should decide for themselves.
That said, I would prefer the kids didnt drink that crap.
Engergy drinks are like 80% advertisement, 10% suger and 10% caffeeine with some added colorants and chemicals for taste anyway.
Some kids drink Red Bull before school and it takes away the little attention they had and makes them even more hyperactive.
But Education > Bans.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Almost every time I go to a super market I see kids/youth buying nothing but energy drinks and quite often a lot of it at that.
As always it's a case of overdoing something and energy drinks in particular isn't a good thing to overdo, esp. not for kids/youth. I'd rather regulate the amount of crap in those drinks than ban them though.

They already have an age restriction over here, what was it 16? Though I did see some stores with an 18 sign for it. Not even sure if its store policy or governement issued.
When I was 16/17 I had a period where I drank 3 a day or so, you can easily say I overdid it. These days I rarely drink it. F1 in a country that makes the viewing time during the night I'll sometimes get a Red Bull... but the past years I more and more go: I'll just make some coffee.
I'm not for banning. See how much shit banning drugs causes... and how the alcohol ban worked out.
If people want to fuck up their life or just have a bit of fun without hurting others they should be able to. Best we can do as a society is warn them of the dangers and provide better mental care.

i used to drink this crap as a student, a young mind totaly falling for the cool factor and their marketing when in fact it shocks ur body with sugar n cafeine and god knows what other crap
i havent drank them for 12 years now, and im much better and getting much better sleep then when i was drinking them
and dont underestimate stupid parents, my mother bought them for me to 'study' better, same reason she bought me study pills, aderol or whatever (this was 20 years ago, and the moment i figured out she was a total sheep bilieving anything the tv says) , i never took em, it made me disgusted with her and this whole industry.
marketing can be very damaging and brainwashing, just look at smokers , this filth should not be in shops, period.

| Its not by law in Sweden yet either, so grocery stores themselves decide. From 13-16 mostly.

I had to laugh out loud when I saw some teenagers drinking a energy drink in front of a supermarket and one of them said "take your time, you have to enjoy it"

My friends sons heart stopped last week due to energy drink. However, its not that he drank insane amounts - but he is a sportsman and apparently its not really good to drink energy drinks daily in that case.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

When i was a teenager we bought a box of Ginseng and Gurana tablets that had much higher dose than any of those energy drinks. i ate 25 of them and went to an all night movie marathon. The next day my eyes were bulging out of my head like a goldfish, had to go to school for 2 weeks with crazy googlie eyes..
The only danger is the insane amount of suger.

Well, Norway is a shithole where stuff like this is concerned. "Ohh, it can potentially be harmful for your health, so it should be illegal" is the normal mentality here. Too much is already illegal already because of it. Weak medicine, overtaxed nicotine, insane policies around driving etcetcetcetcetc.
