For like 10 years I was replaying this game annually, but the last time it really felt just too old (esp. the pre-Halflife 2 engine and its clunkiness). Maybe I should try again but in 4:3 screen mode and in lower resolution, so the blur covers the lack of graphical details, as in the old days...

The assets aren't bad, the problems are the stiff animations and the camera fuckiness. Especially when moving in crawlspaces and such.

With Celerity you prance around from one gate to the other, the zombies move in slowmo.

You can, but it's still not my idea of a great time. And only if you are playing a Brujah (I assume nobody actually plays a fucking Toreador). I rarely play as anything other as a Malk these days, and typically a Tremere is the go-to alternative, neither of which have Celerity.

Ah, yes, the zombie mission. One tends to forget those parts of cherished games where you'd rather strangle an old lady on the street than load the latest save after dying again.

*Cries in Toreador*
My first playthrough was as a Toreador
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Personally I only really dislike the sewers. I think Hollywood HUB is decent before you go down that hell hole, and China Town was fun enough too - just, sadly, not as complex as Downtown when it comes to exploration. But atmosphere was top notch and there were some cool quests to find. Some were a bit combat heavy, but I think it's only really a problem because you get there after going through too much combat beforehand. If there was a way to skip the sewers part completely, I think it'd make the game even better.
The last time I replayed it was in 2017, I think, and it was still one of the best games I played that year.
*edit* Also, so many parts of Bloodlines are just pure brilliance - stuff you usually only find once or twice in a good game, moments that make you remember it, that's everywhere here. Awesome ideas for side quests, stuff like the hotel, the werewolf mission, the ship, the malk mansion, the hospital, the serial killer, the other serial killer... Honestly. All. The. Freaking. Time.

With all the AI improvement to background textures in older games I wonder why no one has tried to do that with this game yet.
It seems they also had some weird 21 hour video stream on Twitch yesterday.

On the one hand, a remake might be the best approach. It's highly unlikely that anyone Paradox would/could hire could come up with something equal in quality to Bloodlines, at least not for the middling budget they'd presumably provide for it. Having someone remake it seems like a solid plan. They already have all the writing and VO, so the team only needs to focus on the environments, combat, etc. and getting rid of the jank.
On the other hand, the rights for Bloodlines belongs to Activision, and I find it inconceivable they'd allow Paradox to make a remake (not without several truckloads of money). And even if they did, I suspect what we'd get would not be a faithful remake that cleans up the issues of the original, makes it a bit prettier, but otherwise leaves it intact. No, we'd get some bullshit like the Final Fantasy VII remake, because the industry can't fucking help itself.

Yeah, as much I'd like to see the game fully shine in a junk-free form, the word remake is almost as frightening as the Ocean House these days. Capcom recently pulled off a miracle with the RE2imagining, though it felt like an isolated case since they had both a substantial budget and talented people who could create a modernized version devoid of derping down despite the changes. A direct sequel to Bloodlines would be problematic as well, there is no way they'll manage to meet the high expectations and match the quality of the original game in the writing and design departments.
I guess we'll have to wait till the running ARG thingy is over and embrace the first seamless online genderfluid metrosexual dating vampiroyale

The devs of the game might be Hardsuit Labs, IF (and it's a big if) a Paradox owned studio is developing the game. They are working on something with UE4.

It's all just speculation, we'll see.

Hopefully it's a Masquerade world, not a Requiem one. 5th edition is pretty good.

So apparently there is this rumour going around that the "big bomb" in question might be the new VtM game.. Man that would be awesome and actually would make a lot of sense to get him on board for that.

A new Vampire game from the makers of Blacklight Retribution sounds quite awkward, let's hope for the best
Avellone's involvement would be the first positive news, even better if they manage to kidnap Brian Mitsoda too. Pretty sure he's hiding somewhere inside the Aslylum!

The Hardsuit Labs "unannounced project" project lead, a former Obsidian employee, has made some comments that would seem to indicate Annie Mitsoda (Brian's wife) possibly did some contract work on the project. So there's a good chance Brian was involved as well.
Btw is there not an existing separate thread for the Paradox VTM game? If not then one should be created and all this stuff should be moved to it instead of necroing the Bloodlines thread, since it is due to be officially unveiled in just a few weeks.

Probably better here then the first 5 pages of the new thread with just people posting rumors and ideas with no real info on the game yet. Just wait till the GDC unveil of whatever it is and I am sure the new topic will get added then.
