I use alcohol as sleeping medicine, but that is not a remedy.

Good morning guys Cool
I take Melatonin regularly, no sleep problems anymore. I prefer the slow release version, about 5mg. Works everytime here.
Also have stronger meds that practically knock you out but never need them. They are just sitting there for years now going past their expiration date Laughing

I've had insomnia issues for over 6 month two years back due to unresolved issues at work. Now that the issues are gone, so is the insomnia.

What helps is doing sports 1h/day if possible and getting up early in the morning and not eating too much in the evening. But ultimately I believe it is a psychological condition (it was for me anyway).

So if there are issues to resolve, do it. Very Happy

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

feel you bro,its bad, especially when you need to get up to work very early. sometimes i only sleep about 3 hours (that only happens now maybe once a week, but still sucks), even though im taking meds (not directly sleeping pills but two different things in the evening and in the morning and that thing in the evening is sedating, the morning stuff is stimulating) since months now. sometimes its better, sometimes it gets worse than before. cant sleep properly at all when im not taking the stuff (unless im drunk, but nowadays that happens maybe once a month. im not even drinking a beer in the evening when i work early, the chances that i wont hear my alarm clock when consuming a tiny bit of alcohol + the meds is very high)

the worst thing is waking up in the middle of the night without being able to move yourself

Unfortunately it's not that simple. I'm battling with depression, anxiety and insomnia for over a decade and probably they won't go away. Sad

Sorry to hear that man. I suppose you already have professional help then.

What does this mean exactly. Does it feel like beeing paralised?

@couleur: yep, basicly what hubu said. sleep paralysis... the first times its scary as fuck, but you get used to it. untill your brain decides to fuck you up a little bit more with sweet things like seeing people sitting in the chair across the bedroom or other "funny" things. well i moved the chair away now but it still happens from time to time

That sounds like dreams creeping into reality. Pretty horrible.

I used to get that shit all the time when I was a teen.. I'm getting it a lot less frequently now, thank god, but I know that horrible feeling. Take care.
