Supernatural had some great stories back in the day, JJ and Daredevil are very well written shows IMO, never saw Constantine.

The fact that they are hiring writers from supernatural detective shows/movies instead of writers from fantasy works, is a very good sign.
It seems like someone there did in fact play the games or read the books.

IMO it's the opposite.
However Hissrich previously worked on Expanse which is, as i recall, sci-fi.

The fact that they have 10 (!) writers for 8 episodes, screams "we don't know how to approach it, so we'll puzzle whatever that's written together and hope it's coherent".

The best shows and films were written only by one competent writer. The more writers are involved in creating a screenplay the higher the chances it will be shit.

Yep, that's how it works. One writer, one director, one camera guy and one guy holding the mic.

The fact that you typed this message screams "I have no idea how TV shows are made".

I guess that's so Very Happy
Name me a good tv show that's written by 10 people (in 1 single season, obviously).

Well, it's not exactly 10 writers, but here is what IMDB has down for FIREFLY:
Series Writing Credits
Joss Whedon ... (created by) (14 episodes, 2002-2003)
Tim Minear ... (4 episodes, 2002-2003)
Ben Edlund ... (2 episodes, 2002-2003)
Jose Molina ... (2 episodes, 2002-2003)
Cheryl Cain ... (1 episode, 2002)
Jane Espenson ... (1 episode, 2002)
Drew Z. Greenberg ... (1 episode, 2002)
Brett Matthews ... (1 episode, 2003)

Actually, that indicates that the universe and characters were all written and established by Joss Whedon, upon which other writers could built.
There are 14 episodes in total of Firefly, meaning Whedon (co)wrote every episode.

If that's case for The Witcher, I'm all fine. But there's more writers than actual episodes, that's really worrying Very Happy

I don't think sitcoms should count, but ok, you had me with The Wire Razz
Although even here you have the same author, David Simon, appearing for every episode.

Fair enough, we'll see. I'll be happy to be wrong about The Witcher Smile

"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

While I can understand why you feel his "creation" lends itself to say he "co-wrote" all episodes, that is not correct (though he is credited for co-writing a few). I understand what you mean from a philosophical point of view (and even agree-- which is why you see Stan Lee as a writer for some of these shows even though he contributed nothing to the script he gets the "based on" and created by credits), but WGA writing credits are EXTREMELY defined. You don't put someone down as a writer unless they actually contributed to the WRITING. I am a WGA member. I have had to fight for my writing credit before.

So what happened here is probably that wawrzul saw this picture: https://twitter.com/LHissrich/status/993668958266970112/photo/1 with 10 people and the words writers' room and thought these are the 10 writers.

For one, this one: https://twitter.com/clareh_video is a writer's assistant. A writer's assistant is NOT a writer, it's the person that takes notes on what the writers discuss.

So that leaves us with 9 people. One of them is probably the script supervisor, which again is not a writer, it's the person responsible for continuity. Then perhaps one of them is the VFX supervisor that attended the meeting to provide input on how they are going to handle the visual side of things and so on.

So far 3 writers have been confirmed, aside of the showrunner. 10 is definitely wrong.

No argument here, you are probably right.

EDIT: Mostly right. "In this picture, there are actual seven writers and three support staff. But I will get into how a writers room works soon!". So again - my bad.
Plus Hissrich claims that each writer does one episode.

LOL @ one of the comments (had to be a black dude ofc) :
"That’s the most diverse room I’ve ever seen. Well done!"

I guess a diverse, AC Origins-esque, social justice fightin', heterosexual male bashin' team guarantees a well written show. The fucking world today.

EDIT2 : And another one : "(also, it makes me really really happy to see a writer's room that isn't 90% white men. thank you - it's a weird, comforting feeling.)"

Test, made-up for show's casting dialogues :

https://www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/8xhn79/netflix_here_are_the_casting_scripts_for_two_yen/

I guess the dialogue is a bit Witcher-like but Yen is a bit too talkative. Geralt's part of dialogue is much better.

Also this :
https://vimeo.com/278935761
https://vimeo.com/278934429

Not from the casting but, apparently, this woman took part in the casting as Yennefer.

I don't like her as Yen. She should be more uptight, less talkative, distanced and less teaseful smiling.

I really hope the wizard ball will be in the show (it should, as it introduces the main villain and Ciri disappears). The dialogs between Geralt and the other wizards are incredibly funny.
