The whole affair with Theresa is horribly underdeveloped and disappointing.

The whole game is underdeveloped and somewhat disappointing as soon as the initial novelty wears off.
Still thoroughly enjoyable. But I'd have alot to say...

Only the ending bothers me because is as abrupt as it can be.

Is it? Yes, they do cut a lot of corners and there's a plethora of bugs, but I wouldn't call it underdeveloped. After all, this is a budget game.

And why the fuck is there no gear crafting ingame? Since you play as a blacksmiths boy, this would have been perfect. |
Considering the way they took with alchemy, it would have been way too much work to make a blacksmithing system. It's for the better I guess, most players would have gone mad after crafting the first couple of pieces, let alone a full set. |
Sharpening your weapons is already done in an entertaining way - at least to me.
|
Yes, that's true. But sharpening your weapon involves just a few actions therefore a few animations. But imagine melting metal to pour it into casts followed by the process of shaping it (heating-hammering-cooling) and so on. It's a lot of work for both the developers and the players.
I'm more bothered by the fact that we don't see any predators in the game, there's wolf's fangs but no wolves. There are plenty of other immersion inducing elements that are missing (no skinning animations, no children, etc.).
I think they made the most out of the budget, maybe they even overreached a bit. I still can't help but be frustrated with some of the design choices or things that are lacking, but I'm having a fantastic time with the game even after wasting several hours on bugged quests.

oh man i just keep giggling at that pic of bernard and the expression he is wearing
though they should not stop at one and add more african-americans. easiest way is to probably modify the cuman textures. just turn all cumans into african-americans. that would be perfect.
i would expect that would even warrant a eurogamer article

I'm glad it's selling well, because I do think they deserve the success, even though the more I play, the more problems with the game creep up. Combat balance is kinda fucked after a while (I have no problems defeating 8, 10, 15 people at once now, which doesn't exactly scream "realism"). Quest rewards are indeed nonexistent, which makes their story the only reason to complete them... which would be fine if most of them weren't such a boring drawl. Still, it's a solid enough title, especially considering the budget. But I think I'm gonna rush to the end now, because I feel like I'm gonna burn out soon.
It should probably also be pointed out that comparisons with TW3 are a bit pointless, since: A) the games were created on completely different budgets (which includes marketing), B) Witcher had a simultaneous GOG release, and it actually sold more copies there than on Steam (surprisingly enough).

I did feel pretty burned out towards the end, mainly because all the combat in the main quest line are big battles and Henry gets really overpowered so it's all just a chore to chop up loads of enemies with zero challenge.
