Seems inevitable. They are working on an unannounced expansion pack for XCom2 atm, based on Steam depot updates. Expect it to be formally announced at E3.

I'm a little disappointed this is so similar to the new X-Com to be honest, time unit / stat based system can work well in this genre, its certainly not flawed unless you save scum. On the plus side, I like the setting and aliens so far a lot more, body part damage is also a big win.. I just hope we get some more innovations in combat compared to the new X-Com.
Also both new xcom and this come no where near the sexy destructible environments of original games.. 22 years later and we still can't nail this.
Well it's probably a bit early to discount some of that altogether. This is only a vertical slice remember, we'll need to give it 12 months to see what the final game looks like. It sounds like there is going to be some elements of the original X-Com making a return in some form or other - like destructible environments and bullet physics.

Yep, on paper the plans are ambitious (with also psychology factors involved for the characters, multi-layered levels and so on), it remains to be seen which features will actually make it and/or if there will be compromises. Let's hope for the best
Looks good indeed. Just cant get into crabs shooting machine guns. They could spit bile you, acid you, even sperm you.. but shooting guns is bit stange.

XCOM 2's RNG doesn't cheat, this has been proven multiple times (well that's not strictly true - it actually influences results in favour of the player). The problem is that its hit-based probability calculations make no sense. Having only 70% chance to hit something at point-blank range for example. PP handles it differently:

Bullets are fire[d] by raytracing a line from the shooter's weapon to the target. A cone is projected. The more accurate the weapon, the tighter the cone. The further away from the target, the larger the cone will be at the target. The shots from the weapon will all travel randomly within that cone of fire.
The size of the cone is also reduced in accordance with the accuracy of the shooter. So there will still be a random element, but it will be very different from the way Firaxis XCOM handles it.
I bought the soldier roster edition some time ago, just so I can have my name in the credits being the lame-o that I am . Currently they offer downloadable briefings on your pre-purchase. Im not even sure exactly what they are as I haven't bothered downloading any yet, presume they are some text novella or something of the like, but they are currently up to briefing 3 with the latest just having been released.
Not exactly over the moon over this title, personally more looking forwad to Wasteland 3 or Bards Tale 4 but the former isn't due out till Xmas 2019 anyway so...
Like xcom though, and especially like the idea of fighting against big bosses in this game. Also the squad system is more like the original xcom games rather then the reboots.. where 4 player squads are more like the min.. and you can be going on missions with 16 man teams dropship size depending. (if I heard the dev correctly)

Thanks, mate, that's what I meant, basically. The hit chances are absolutely ridiculous at times.
On a different note, is there a mod that makes navigating the battle maps more manageable? I mean because of the idiotic semi-transparent walls and floors, it's sometimes not clear where a certain soldier will end up moving, or whether he'll be flanked because there's a doorway or corridor I can't see properly. I'm looking for something like a top-down view or a minimap.
I like it. Although I would prefer something with regular action points. At least they changed combat from their first build.
If someone wants turn based goodness I recommend the XPiratez mod for original ufo. It's just epic.
