Quote: | Like many other AAA games, BioWare's just-released Mass Effect: Andromeda offers microtransactions for its multiplayer mode. Now that the game is available in the wild, pricing for its virtual currency, called Points, has emerged on digital storefronts such as the Xbox Store and the PlayStation Store.
Points can be spent on new multiplayer packs, which come with cosmetic items. Alternatively, multiplayer packs can be acquired through normal gameplay, so the microtransactions are more of a means to unlock the items more quickly.
Andromeda's Points are offered in bundles, starting with 500 for $5 and running up to 12,000 for $100. As always, EA/Origin Access subscribers on Xbox One and PC can save 10 percent on the prices.
Mass Effect: Andromeda Microtransaction Pricing:
500 Points -- $5
1,050 Points -- $10
2,150 Points -- $20
3,250 Points -- $30
5,750 Points -- $50
12,000 Points -- $100

Fyi, I never touched ME3 and I will never play this one even for a minute. I don't care if combat is good. I'm not putting myself in this "politically correct" agenda and I don't want it in videogames. I'm also a bit sad with the direction videogames take. I'll be 40 this year, gaming since 1983, unfortunately things are getting worse every year and all these stupid devs are ruining my hobby with the help ofc of all the stupid consumers/customers.
Let's hope some indie devs will continue to provide good games, though the Early Access scheme is damaging gaming imo. |
Just do what I did, install S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat then the Misery Mod, or if you feel more like playing in a sandboxy environment install the Call of Misery mod (Misery ported to Call of Chernobyl). I've been playing this thing non-stop for the last 3 weeks and I feel like I'm back in PC gaming paradise, not giving a fuck about them shitty games that are being released lately

BioWare mulls Mass Effect Andromeda animation, character creator improvements
Quote: | Chief among the changes are progression bugs and animation tweaks - although some of the game's most-commented-on scenes remain untouched. For now, that is.
BioWare hasn't gone so far as confirming Andromeda is getting a big animation do-over - and the vast majority of the dialogue you've not seen in GIFs is fine - but the company has said it has plenty of things on the list for its next patch.
"We're looking at patching lots of issues and want to strongly support the game moving forward," lead designer Ian S. Frazier wrote on Twitter last night, in response to one fan asking whether facial animations for some characters might improve. "I can't say more just yet."
One of Andromeda's areas actively being investigated for tune-up is its character creator, whose relatively limited options have upset some fans.
"Can't promise anything yet, but we're currently evaluating various options for making it better," Frazier wrote.
Last week's early access trial for the game recieved a mixed response from fans, who flooded the internet with some of the game's worst examples of bugs in GIF form.
"Many of these issues will be patched out, and most are negligible - easily forgiven as you gaze out over a gleaming, windswept icefield studded with kett outposts, or glimpse a gigantic sandworm composed of flickering black shards arching through the skies of a desert world," Edwin wrote in Eurogamer's Mass Effect Andromeda review. "But it's staggering, nonetheless, that the game made it to retail in this state."
"We're absolutely listening," Frazier concluded, writing to another fan concerned the game would be left in its current state. "Sorry I can't say more right now." |

Are there any cosmological objects other than planets in the game? Pulsars, black holes, neutron stars, alien superstructures etc? |
A post from another site sums up the science literacy that you may run into, minor spoilers:
spronk wrote: | The most bothersome thing to me is how Bioware seems to have no grasp of physics. In just the first minute of the game you are told (via cutscenes/monitors) that we used our telescopes and stuff to find the best planets in Andromeda and sent the arks to the ones with the biggest clusters of golden planets. Then it turns out (at least one) of the planet kinda sucks, and your PC makes a comment about how it could have changed so much in 600 years of FTL travel.
No you stupid fuck, Andromeda is 2.5m light years away so that means whatever your scanners picked up was from 2.5m years ago (ignoring how it is highly unlikely you will get down to planetary imaging from a distance of 2.5m LY, no matter how great your tech is). You couldn't even send a probe and get results from that, since that would have still taken hundreds of years to get there with zero way to send data back. I'd like to imagine the game eventually explains whatever happened did so over a million years, but most likely it'll all have happened in the previous 600 years.
Bioware can't even get really, really basic science stuff right |

Shut up hater, those were magic quantum entangled telescopes!
I think it would've been better if the last message from ghost dad would be one admitting they basicaly invented this shit up as they went on to get the rubes to sign up for a one way trip.

Somebody made the right call to stop the trial there as the next mission is incredibly terrible and has some of the worst writing I've seen.

Not again.
The game has heavy issues, people are allowed to discuss them and people are allowed to enjoy the game. Stop discussing whether both of these things are good or not.
I swear the next person to engage this conversation gets a one week ban.
edit: To make this clear.
1. Play the game, enjoy the game! Noone criticizes you for it. Its a game after all and there are certainly good things about it.
2. Criticize the game, make fun of funny animations scenes, point out the flaws of the game. Obviously that is allowed as for any other game aswell.
But:
a. Leave people be who do either 1. or 2. and accept their opinion. Some things are left to taste and taste is subjective and everyone has the right to have one.
b. Dont discuss Bioware's history or the gaming industry as a whole again and instead focus on the game.
c. Normally neither a. or b. are an issue. People discussing their opinions or the place of a specific game in a companys history is normal. But this thread clearly has had one too many of these meta-discussions. And there have been too many off-topic ramblings.
So it will be under thighter scrutiny. I will not repeat this and you will get the announced ban if you cannot follow these easy rules.
edit 2: And dont engage the troll.
edit 3:
Normally I wouldnt do this but it seems a few clarifications are still in order:
1. We've already had at minimum three very recent instances in this thread where off-topic discussions and fighting between people went overboard. Some people abuse the faults of this game a little too much, maybe. But that is no reason to bait people time and again with the same personal jabs, saying its just people hating for no reason when really there are flaws to which even the sometimes biased reviewers admit.
2. Every single time it takes a good deal of time to sift through the posts and eliminate the bad ones and try to keep the good ones. Last but not least due to aging forum software. Time we are willing to spend of course. But sometimes there is a point where it is just enough. This morning (and several thread cleanings later) was such a point. There is enough empirical evidence to expect exactly the outcome of casus post. Something he knows himself very well, I expect. So the trolling is obvious.
3. We are generally very lenient when it comes to people trolling each other, but just like 3. sometimes enough is enough.
4. I understand it is impossible to do it right for everyone. There is always some subjectivity involved. So I expect criticizm. I encourage you to send pms instead of abusing this thread for it.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Flaky pseudo-science in MEA shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody, the entire series is built on it. People have been picking holes in the ridiculous underpinnings of the lore since ME1.

You're not the guy cleaning this thread every two days. This is the fourth time.
You can pm me if you have a better suggestion. Now lets get back to topic, shall we?

yes, i was always drawn to star wars by its plausibility.
scifi is about escapism. the only reason its called scifi instead of just being lumped in with all fantasy films, is because instead of using the fantasy realm to justify its magic, it uses SCIENCE to explain its magic.

This.
Previous Effects had some hard scifi theories here and there like the conversation about mass drivers but really it just an exemption from the rule. You can't expect sticking to science from a game in which every planet has the same gravity.
