Well, if this is what they're worried about in a game where you can enslave and purge entire civilizations, this game has no chance in hell of ever becoming the game it should be.

Guess forced diversity trumps everything.

We saw the mod, thought it wasn't in very good taste, but let it remain. Then the creator of the mod decided to update the description of the mod to promote an "agenda" not related to computer games at all, and this was being clearly displayed on our product page. We decided it was a step too far and removed it. Eurogamer did not do a good job describing what exactly it was we removed.
Maybe rash, but understandable too.

But to be honest, who the flying fuck cares?

They are already hard at work at improving the game. But maybe the community department of Paradox are an essential and inseparable part of the development team. Rolling Eyes

Well, with the explanation I have a lot more sympathy for it. I don't have a problem with all white or black or whatever... but if you are going to use it to spread your agenda that is going too far.

No surprise that the gamejourno tards left parts out in the name of their standard agenda pushing. Makes it even funnier that Paradox defended IGN's awful review of the game against their own customers Laughing

Not that I actually think that's a valid reason to remove the mod. They're obviously pushing their own agenda in the game, so let random internet tards to the same.

Regarding the latest dev dary, Martin went on a bit of an answer-a-thon.

Quote:
User: does the military focus for the sector ai now work ( do they make stations)
Wiz: Should be fixed, yes.
User: hmm what about the fleet being stuck issue with larger fleet battles?
Wiz: Should also be fixed!
Wiz: Yes, sector AI should understand robot-only planets now.
User: What about the ethics divergence bug?
Wiz: Also fixed. Please keep in mind that the bug fixes I posted are not an exhaustive list, just some highlights.
User:What do you mean by "free" patch? Are the next ones going to be paid? What did you really mean?
Wiz: By free patch we mean there's no accompanying expansion. Of course all patches will be free, even if they are released alongside an expansion.
User: What about invading and bombing your own planet problem?
Wiz: Should also be fixed!
Wiz: We have released a number of performance improvements in the hotfixes, and we're continuing to look into it for the people who are still experiencing performance issues, but there are only minor performance improvements in Clarke itself as we opted to put them into the hotfixes instead.
EDIT: Even more!
User: If you set AI Agressiveness to high will pacifist AI players go to war ?
Wiz: Only if they have a good reason to. It doesn't change under what circumstances AI will start wars, only how often.
User: It seems you can only change the ruler's title for the first ruler's gender. What if the next ruler is of the opposite gender ? Ex : I set "Ruler Title (Male)" to "Emperor". But what if the next ruler is female ?
Wiz: You can set titles for both genders by switching the gender, editing title, and switching back.
User: Do fleets upgrades still take an obscene amount of time?
Wiz: Nope! Is now based on size of upgrade rather than size of fleet, and overall much faster.
User: Will sector AI finally respect tile resources? Will it be able to understand planets with specialized pops (i.e put Agrarian pops on farms and Industrious ones on mines, avoid putting slaves and robots in labs, etc)? Will there be an option to forbid it to replace buildings completely (including farms)?
Wiz: Yes, yes and yes.
User: Does clarke fix the AI never doing any white peace ? It blocks the game when for instance A is at war against B to take planet X. C also declare against B to take X. C successfully take X and make peace. But A and B stay at war forever, neither AI doing a white peace.
Wiz: Yeah, this should be fixed.
User: Also, could you consider adding a slider to change the research pace? In all 4X games I always prefer playing with marathon-style settings, otherwise by the time the ships reach the front, they risk becoming obsolete.
Wiz: The problem with this is that things like Fallen Empires, endgame crises etc are balanced against the current tech pace. It would be better as a mod than as an option because it requires reworking of those things to not mess hard with game balance.

Plantoids will include:

Fifteen new species portraits
New templates for plantoid civilian and military ships
New cityscape art.

Did they mean planetoids?
(EDIT: Nope there's no mention of them in the above summary but apparently a plant species is somewhere in this too so it is also a new race DLC so that summary above is likely then what said race comes with and not the entirety of the DLC content.)

meh, lets see how next patch is first.. this game's been somewhat of a dissapointment. Feel they left it pretty broken in last patch before they went on holiday. Granted paradox never been much for good AI but this one takes the cake.

I don't think combat can be too deep in a grand strategy. Otherwise you would end up micromanaging.

But now that ES2 has gotten a major update, I recommend that by a very wide margin. If you end up only playing/buying one space 4x game, that is by far the best offering even in its beta state.

It can be as deep as you want it to be Smile

But it doesn't have to be particularly deep or nuanced. I just want all the technology they implemented to make a difference and feel special. Otherwise, what's the point, really?

Moo2, SotS, SotSE, ES, ES2 and so on - all managed to have much better combat than this.
