Will there be any name filters?

I already see the new bioware fans naming their toys something like "A Celestial Rod Of Anal Destruction +10" Laughing

UI was bad, but the system itself was great.

Yep, open-world syndrome pretty much confirmed I guess.

Can't be bothered to design unique and interesting weapons, maybe with some lore tied to them?
Just implement a crafting system, and let the user build hundreds of generic ones that differ from one another by a few stat points and their color.

Will probably be the same approach with exploration, DA:I style: out of ideas for interesting locations and planets? No problem: just make one huge hub environment, then change it's skin to desert/snow/rock/whatever suits you and fill it with fetch quests and tedium.

I hope I'm being too pessimistic... but I have a bad feeling.

The forum discussions I remember focused mostly on fan creations and novels (hardcore erotica) and other strange artwork or quirky questions so not much of a change really. Very Happy
(With the devs being pretty actively involved about said forum discussions too.)

A few years back though (~early 2000's Razz ) things might have been a bit different.

EDIT: Oh yeah they did do their BioPoint DLC system via the forums too initially and had patch notes.

The weirdos had their own sub-forums. There was plenty of useful and rational discussion to be had in the other parts. What they needed was a proper moderation/admin team, but that would cost money.

Ah yes I think I vaguely remember that now, some fanfic sub forum for each of their game "universes" discussing all sorts of things. (Qunari horns are serious business. )

As for moderators and admins that's probably pretty expensive these days seeing how even companies like Valve are struggling with maintaining their forums. Very Happy

...Well that would have worked as a example if Valve hadn't specifically left that up to the actual developer / publisher to maintaing though then again even the Steam specific forums and Valve developed game communities are in a pretty poor state.

They do work pretty quickly when it comes to user uploaded artwork and screenshots though. Razz

Its how it is these days look at others like Blizzard. They paint the hair blue/purple become tranny and make women their gods. U don't get work because you are good but you get it because you are a filthy racist against whites or a dorky woman/tranny.

Guess it's the nerdy rejects that grown up that make games nowadays. Twitter allowing them to finally voice their absurd opinions. And they can finally make fun of ppl. Mostly white males.

Strange that you mention Blizzard in this context... wasn't Blizzard the company that had the absolutely glorious response to critics of the Tracer buttpose? Smile

Just look at Celestalon's twitter. It's a huge cringe fest with hair paint. Him and his team are doing an awful job with WoW running it into it's grave. Same as what is happening with Bioware. Can just smell this game not being relevant one week after it's release only to be used for jokes.

Mass Effect: Andromeda – PC version will feature a FOV slider
Quote:
The first PC gameplay video of Mass Effect: Andromeda was released a couple of weeks ago and, to be honest, there was one thing that almost ruined the entire experience. The camera viewpoint. That damn camera was so close to the main character that it almost made me sick. Therefore, I was delighted to hear that the PC version of Mass Effect: Andromeda will feature a FOV slider.

According to the lead designer of Mass Effect: Andromeda, a FOV slider will be featured in the PC version of the game.

So that’s extremely good news to everyone I guess. At least now I will be able to explore the environments (without guessing or imagining what’s around me) and eventually enjoy the damn game.

Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on March 21st.

I'd agree but it's surprisingly uncommon to include a FOV slider for whatever reason.

Same with 21:9 support and proper aspect ratio scaling despite it being fairly trivial to implement said thing especially for the damn developers having the source code for their game. Razz
(Perhaps a few years ago when HUD elements were individual texture files it would be a bit more of a challenge.)

It's good since it completely negates the criticism of the FOV in the showed gameplay videos - allowing each player to set the camera as they like.

A decade ago, I would have agreed with your sentiment.

Today, however, NOTHING is to be taken for granted. We're pretty much at the point where functional mouse and keyboard support on PC versions is considered a "feature". If we're talking a Japanese port (or really anything released by Capcom and the like), it's most definitely a "luxury feature".

So yea, an FOV slider in a modern PC title is most definitely considered a "luxury feature" rather than a given feature.

Sad times. Sad

Look guys, 2 things what are the most important thing in gaming is controller and HDTV, you cant expect to have support for 2 extra aspect ratios and a adjustable FOV in 2017 PC port.
