Hidden deep in the world of Final Fantasy XV, there’s a dungeon unlike anything else in the game. You can’t get there until you’ve finished the game.

Sweet! Gotta finish the game first though lol.

Yes you can.

Nice. Do you play in japanese?
I was a bit disappointed in kingsglaive being meant for english dubs, but I cant imagine the game being the same.

It doesn't run at 60 FPS currently. Lite is 30 but smoother, Default is 30 but fucked with frame skipping, High is 30 and nicer but fucked with frame skipping. There's supposed to be a patch that unlocks FPS in December, as you said, but I think they want to work on optimization before it hits (so it indeed runs closer to 60 and not something around 40-50). Wheter it happens or it doesn't it's hard to say (I mean, the patch will be here, but how will the game run is hard to judge - unlocked FPS mode in, say, Rise of the Tomb Rider doesn't net 60 FPS, for example).

BTW, tutorial is particularly fucked up for some reason. I started wirth it too and I wanted to stop playing right there, but the actual game runs much smoother than that (on Lite on Pro, that is).

Both modes currently run at consistent, locked 30 fps, HQ mode has huge framepacing problems and is basically unplayable atm, Lite mode also has some framepacing issues, but to a much lesser degree. The 60 fps mode is something theyre aiming for, but I doubt they'll manage to achieve it, as the director said they can currently do 45 fps unlocked.
I wouldnt' count on 60 fps, but I hope there is a framepacing patch coming soon, all versions currently run at stable 30 fps but the xboner one is the only without framepacing problems.

Eh? I have over 24 hours of gametime and yesterday is the first time I've read about this. I still have no clue what the issue is or what I'm supposed to be annoyed about..

Maybe you're playing in Lite mode, the bad framepacing in HQ mode isnt something you would easily ignore, it basically makes it look like the game is constantly switching between 30 and 15 fps.

People have different levels of tolerance for it, though. I noticed it instantly and just couldn't go on - the game felt like it ran at 15 FPS or something. But I know some people who play on High and it doesn't matter to them. I think a while ago I probably wouldn't have cared either - in PS3 era most games ran like that Laughing But I've been playing most of my games on a PC nowadays and I got "spoiled" Razz

I'm 6 hours in. Game gets better the longer you play. I actually think it starts off really poorly and it's one of its bigger problems. The area, characters, everything just lacks the typical FF "ooomph" at first, for lack of a better explanation Razz But then it picks up. Also (not really a spoiler, since it's been known for a while, but still):

Checked, I have been playing in high. I'll set it to lite for a couple of hours and switch it back after that, see if I notice it.

edit: can't say I'm noticing any visual difference so far at least, so playing in lite is fine for me as well.. unlike the footage I saw of the xbone. The blurriness I wouldn't be able to handle.

Kind of meh to think the PS4 Pro was (is ?) supposed to be running this at 60fps...

I didn't try the game on a standard PS4 but this scares me if you guys with PS4 Pro are already hit by its framerate.

http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2016/12/01/final-fantasy-xvs-scripted-prologue-probably-shouldve-been-in-the-game

Quote:
This is an English translation of an audio drama CD that was only released in Japan, and it helps establish some of the character relationships leading into Final Fantasy XV.

In the prologue, we see the scenes leading up to the game’s opening, where a strangely sad King Regis sends Noctis out into the world and tells him never to turn back. There are also appearances from Kingsglaive characters and NPCs who don’t get nearly enough screentime in FFXV. It’s worth reading if you want some more context for the game’s opening events.

@Interinactive Your problem why it doesn't run on 60 fps is the console itself.

Pro will be required for RDR2, I don't even wanna think of what horrible framerate we'll get on the PS Poor.

Holy shit Very Happy For all the things the game does badly, it sometimes does something so well you're left dazzled. And it can be the weirdest thing too: like Chocobs Laughing I'm left without a car for story reasons, so I did the chocobo quest so I can move around faster. And now I don't even want the shitty car anymore Laughing Seriously, they're soooo fun to ride around on! Best game mount EVER.

I just wish I could get one permanently, instead of rentals Sad They're cheap anyway, but it seems like an unnecesarry nuisance.

I know you can change their color and name them, but you still pay for renting - or so it would seem Smile But there's also some kind of leveling involved, you can even call one in combat to tromp on your foes Laughing Chocobos make running around the world MUCH nicer, because you're not restricted to roads and you can jump over obstacles (their jump is quite high too Very Happy). All these silly little fences or crash barriers that can be impossible to cross on foot from one side and make you run around it - and so on and on - gone! Controls are super responsive too.

I think you can actually do the quest fairly early, but it's a bit confusing. You have to find the chocobo ranch (there's a racing track there, you can see it on the map) and then you have to do a hunt for "Deadeye", which just happens to not even be named that way in the actual hunt's selection. Seriously, the devs really try to make things hard for the player sometimes Laughing

On one hand, it would be good for people who own a Pro... but that doesn't really benefit R* as much as it benefits Sony

What benefits R* is to have both running at 30, identically, then release a HD version later on :/

R* so far never managed consistent 30 fps on consoles, even when they had only one version of the given console to optimize the game for, so I expect anything besides Pro and Scorpio to be an absolute mess Laughing

Regarding Chocobos, you do "keep" them, as in the way you named and customized them, but just need to pay for the rent, which is a weird design choice but not really an issue, since it only costs 50 gil a day and you can rent them for several game days in advance.
You can find these yellow Chocobo renting meters at every outpost in the game anyway, so its not a problem.

Yeah, I know Smile I just find it weird and not really needed - it would be cool if there was a quest to get your very own. But yeah, it doesn't hamper the gameplay in any visible way.

So I've been playing for about 3 hours, a bit into chapter 2. Seems the game is a bit slow to start mostly driving back and forth across the map, not great pacing-wise. Just crashed too..hopefully there was a recent auto save so I don't have to rage.

Hoping it picks up soon. Also for some reason I can never select the Manual option for driving the car..I was able to in chapter 1. Not that driving is interesting, you hold R2 and the car turns by itself rofl it's hilarious. Might as well leave it on Auto or do Fast Travel if its an option.
