Runs decent but stutters here and there. Visuals are muddy as hell and reek of consolitis.

Didn't float my boat. After a couple of hours or so it all became rather tedious. Too much micromanagement and not all that much to do.

Looking forward to Mack's review. It should be good for a laugh.

Holy shit the planetside ship handling is just...it's beyond words to describe how bad it is.

Is there a way to turn off this 'floor is lava' bullcrap? I constantly miss landing pads because I cannot turn the nose of the ship down more to see what the holy hell is below me, and dogfighting is virtually impossible because the enemy can easily hug the ground, but you are not allowed to go below a certain height, and have to boost up into the sky, then dive down on the target to have a chance at scoring some hits. Well, before the nanny-controls force you nose-up.

If I want to faceplant my ship into the ground I should be able to. This 'keep little Timmy away from the ground or he might hurt himself' handholding is just infuriating.

In DL you can at least turn it off (but fair enough it was not possible to disable the effect at launch without mods).

So the game that looked really bad prior to release is in fact.. a very bad game.

@Interinactive It is fucking terrible, sure make it an option for insecure people, but after a bit of flying you should know what you could do with the ship, this just calls for the ship being completely useless.

Subnautica is better in every regard, plus it's cheaper. It's a shame there's no space version of that, even if it was isolated to a single planet or two.

So much this... I see the screenshots from the humpers about Subnautica and think: man that looks great... but at the same time I wish it was space instead.

@Interinactive Definitely. It could've been pretty good actually, missed opportunity. Layout feels like Destiny at every point I look and I didn't even play that.

You should be able to look around, just not when you enter the ship in landed state.

edit: I looked for it, seems PC has no option to look around (not even with ALT) CONTROLLERS however do (played with it, seemed appropriate it's a console port) Laughing

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/4xhqju/atmospheric_flight_needs_alot_of_improvement/

So much truth in this, the fact you can't stop midair is horrible. There are ships with thrusters that seem like they could enter hover mode, WHY is this not a thing yet?

So after I employed the magical fix

Quote:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS
Then find the file "TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML" and open it.
You will then find the "GSync" option. It's "true" by default, change it to "false".

turned Vsync off, turned max framerate to MAX and limited framerate to 60 with Afterburner

I no longer have any hitches and it's 60 FPS 99% of the time (with some drops to 40 when landing on a new planet). It no longer stutters when taking off too, which is a plus.

The game is still shit though, lacks any sense of direction, the UI is a clusterfuck, it looks like a 2004 game on max, and even with the maximum AA option enabled the jaggies hurt my eyes.

Oh well, shift-delete.

Seriously, play Starbound instead.

Saw the same bug in one of Robbaz' videos Very Happy
The one thing that's really annoying me (apart from the constant stuttering, obviously) is that you have to keep your mouse button pressed for a little while before a 'click' is actually registered.
It's soooo frustrating... Laughing

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
