What a bunch of crap. This is no lightsaber fight, the 30 second gameplay session with the lightsaber just consists in bouncing back lasers at stormtroopers.
What a disappointment there is no actual jedi fight.
Guys get RAW DATA it is just 10x better than this demo/experiment.

Comparing free to free, Nvidia VR funhouse delivered much more: technically and gameplay wise.

The assembly: another walking simulator / single player adventure title:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/373650/
The game is getting trashed on steam forums because of the VR DLC supplement and the fact that it does not support motion controlers (quite a shame I must say for this type of game).

According to http://www.vrheads.com/htc-vive-gets-price-hike-august-11-due-weaker-pound the price in the UK is to increase from £689 to £759, with Brexit being blamed for the price increase.
I wonder if EVERY SINGLE hardware manufacturer will be doing the exact same thing?

Yeah well. Suddenly I might just buy a Rift in September instead, despite my loathing for Facebook, I don't think I want to spend that much on a vive, especially if I'm just mainly sitting down...

Don't buy a VR HMD if you intend to just sit down using it, unless you have a lot of disposable income.
The 'wow' factor will dissapear quickly and other than flightsims and racing sims (both of which still need the actual vr support implemented, of which there are only a few) sitting games in VR is a complete gimmick. It might sound 'alright' if you've not tried a HMD before and have you built up hype for it, but really, it's totally not worth it.
Standing and roomscale is where it's at, and where VR makes sense, (not even talking about motion controls yet) because it adds a lot of immersion when you're moving about, even if you only have a little space. (i think i'm at 2.5m v 1.8m, which isn't a whole lot, but enough to be able to enjoy it)
Sitting adds absolutely nothing for non-sim games, other than being a dynamic camera view, which you'll quickly realise is totally not worth the money once you've seen it in action.

I appreciate the advice, however I'm not getting it for the 'wow' factor, I'm getting it for specific games that are cockpit based.
VR will only fail for those who think it is a wow thing. I don't expect a new thing to try every day otherwise I'll get bored, I just want to play the games I already play, but with proper depth and immersion.
VR is not a quick fix thing, and I can't understand why this seemed to be the norm. And VR does not need to be a room based thing, that is a useless gimmick right now, with far too many limitations to be useful. The Rift has the same range you need for a standing experience, and you can even take a step or two. Much like a Vive in an average room...

Well imo your essentially talking 3d glasses vs. Vr, for me no motion controls = alt f4, delete. Even demo's where your just watching are better served with the ability to walk in the space and see things from different viewpoint.

limitations =/= requirements.
yes, the requirements are a bit ridiculus from a regular consumer point of view, but far from a useless gimmick. motion controls and standing/roomscale is where it's at; if you haven't tried VR yet, you'll realise once you get your HMD.
Not that i'm trying to be the go-to VR specialist, it's just a realisation after a few months with my Vive, there's just certain things you come to realise that are great, and others that make no sense.
PS this isn't about vive vs rift or whatever, i'm sure the rift will do fine for at the very least standing experiences once touch hits the market, i'm just trying to make people realise that they shouldn't buy a HMD to sit down and look around, it won't take more than a week before you'll realise it was a waste of money for that reason - the technological limitations are still too big to view it as some sort of monitor replacement.
The limitations are also something you focus less on in roomscale, because you're far more preoccupied with the experience than the pixel/fov/sde/flare etc issues.

While some people might have been happy to replace their racing/space/flight games with virtual reality 100% of the time.. I haven't.
Once the novelty wears off its quite taxing to be "inside" of virtual reality for long periods of time and this is especially true in seated games.
I prefer Elite Dangerous on my desktop because I'd rather casually play for a few hours then have to be inside virtual reality for the same time. Its easy to take breaks, look at something else in your room, whatever you like.
Its hard to explain.. maybe someone else can explain better.
I pretty much only play room scale games, despite owning a Logitech G27 and games like Assetto Corsa, and a joystick with Elite Dangerous, War Thunder etc.
I really think seated VR is a waste of money right now considering the price.

tried a demo of everest some time ago and it was pretty weak
it's not a proper game - just a simplistic experience

Soe guises.
Is this (Vive / Oculus) any good?
Mainly for Elite or some such? (and shits and giggles with zombie scares)
To me these have so far looked as bad as Kinect back in the day. (I have not tried VR at all)
