Was it?
I seem to remember it was closed source and developed quite "silently" for a while. By the time it was open sourced it could already run several commercial games if I recall correctly.

You're absolutely right. Dolphin was closed source for many years, before it began emulating the Wii, then went open in 2008. The argument "closed source, stolen code, INSERTDEVHERE will close it down" is ridiculous. I can't think of any other emulator ever shut down by related Dev/manufacturer.

or do I remember any rumors like that surrounding any recent and fleshed out emulator, be it VBA or PCSX2 or BSNES or any other.

But they do keep circling around CEmu and where is smoke there is fire. And damn that's a lot of smoke I must say, taking into account way too impressive CEmu progress.

There any way to get mouse and keyboard working like a normal FPS with keyboard and mouse? Anywhere I can grab a profile for it or something. Info on it still seems really scattered.

trying to play metroid with gamecube roms.

Try the trilogy version it's way easier to get the wiimote to act like a mouse then the gamecube pad, it also has native 16:9 and a few other improvements. I would recommend using Ishiiruka instead of regular Dolphin it get's rid of the shader generation stutter which can be very bad in this game and has way better performance and gfx in general especially with the dx12 renderer.

Another +1 from me for both Trilogy and Ishiiruka, the shader compilation fix ALONE makes Ishiiruka the only build of Dolphin to ever consider. I'm astounded the primary devs for Dolphin have pushed that to the main branch yet, absolutely astounded.

Now this is genuinely impressive. Now we have a proper big boy title running at near playable speeds, that is a sign of great progress.

two short videos, sorry for the quality fuck up (even with yt settings @ 720@60fps). something went wrong with the rendering, dunno why. and i forgot to add afterburners overlay or any other fps counter. but they are always between 45-60 fps. its really good playable, on some tracks at the start it loads some other stuff in the first ~20 seconds so it may stop short but afterwards its fine. and the track loading times are fucking long, think it was faster in previous cemu builds

Maybe I just remember it totally wrong, but is there some render pass missing or something? Especially the first vid appears pretty dark.

And the loading times, damn Laughing. Did the load times run at full speed?

on some tracks its too dark yes (thats not because of my fuckup), its because of problems with some lightning in cemu itself (toads turnpike for example has massvie gfx glitches atm). loading screen is always at full speed 60fps, as i said: i remember with older cemu builds the loading times were not as high as with the newest version, but i might be wrong, dunno. maybe i had the game files on ssd when i tried it the last time

overall its very playable now, sure here and there some glitches and maybe slowdowns but overall -> its impressive what they did in the short time

@Janz
720p though, Are You Serious

Is it already possible to upscale with Cemu? For example Mario Kart and Twilight Princess HD seem to run very good already.
Depending on your hardware, some upscaling to 2K and the use of Reshade should give a nice result.

nope, no gfx/filter/resolution options at all implemented yet. and it looks awful when using fullscreen, thats why i capped the 720p window mode. and yes would be nice, we will see that sometime in the future i think. havent played around with reshade yet though

We don't know what the bottlenecking thread is responsible for though Wink (unless someone here is familiar with the code)

Anyway, this should mean that it simply requires more time waiting for us and developing from cemus authors. Unless more parallelization were somehow impossible somehow, which I'd find weird.

Sounds good. Smile

Why dont you record in 1080p though?

That Super Mario Bros game looks very bad with those 3D objects IMO. Like some indie project made with Unity.
